Last weeks episode of NXT was capped off with a huge tag team match. NXT Champion Finn Balor teamed with Kyle O’Reilly to defeat the NXT Tag Team Champions, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch. However, the match wasn’t the important bit.
That came after the match, when Pete Dunne joined Lorcan & Burch to beat down Balor and break his fingers in the process. Dunne wants Balor at the next NXT Takeover event, and tonight showed up ready to find Balor once again. Meanwhile, Edge is in the building, and has something to say to the champion.
Pete Dunne Just Wants Finn Balor
Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch all hit the ring with purpose. He told Finn Balor to his face, that he’s no longer waiting for a shot. Balor didn’t listen, so last week he snapped his fingers. Dunne would tell Balor he will not make it any clearer than that.
Balor’s music would hit, and he’d say that Dunne says he’s not waiting, yet is hiding behind Burch & Lorcan like a coward. Dunne would call the NXT Tag Team Champions off to the side, and Balor entered the ring to talk to Dunne face to face. Balor wasted no time making this match official for NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day.
Enter Edge!
However, that wasn’t it for this segment. A very familiar theme song hit, and Edge made his way to an NXT ring for the first time ever. He’d say this feels great, and on RAW & Smackdown, they’re focused on the E in WWE. NXT is more about the middle W.
Edge has been an NXT fan for years, it helped him find his passion to get his career back after nine years. That passion got him the Rumble win, which allows him to challenge any champion in the company. Edge is sharing the ring with two of the best, and he sees a lot of himself in Dunne. Balor to Edge is a man operating on a very different level.
Edge will be watching the match at Takeover very closely, because he’s never held that title. If he hasn’t made his choice by NXT Takeover, he’s coming for that belt.
