Earlier in the night, Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch once again attacked Finn Balor. He was coming down to the ring to get answers about why Adam Cole attacked him on Sunday, blaming both Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly who were in the ring. After all being attacked, they need to team up tonight in the main event to face their attackers.
One of these teams is a well oiled machine, while the other is three men who are not on the same page. Even Strong & O’Reilly, who are former NXT Tag Team Champions aren’t on the same page tonight after Sunday. Add in the wild card of Cole, and you can’t call this one.
Finn Balor & Kyle O’Reilly Work Together
Lorcan started with O’Reilly, quickly both throwing strikes. O’Reilly won out, and had a chance to make a tag. He’d ignore Strong for Balor, and make some quick tags with his recent rival instead of his long term partner. Balor got an arm lock on Lorcan, who shoved his way to his corner to tag in Burch.
Strong would tag himself in when he got the chance, only to end up quickly in the wrong corner. Dunne tagged in, and these two have had issues for years. Strong avoided an armbreaker and went for a backbreaker, but Dunne had him scouted.
Dunne took some chops before throwing Strong outside, where Lorcan & Burch swarmed him. Strong fought off all opponents and hit a backbreaker, tagging in O’Reilly. Burch took a flurry of strikes from O’Reilly, before O’Reilly caught both Dunne & Lorcan with dragon screws. O’Reilly kept going, and wanted a diving forearm off the apron, taking a forearm to the head courtesy of Dunne.
Adam Cole Decides To Show Up
Coming back from a commercial break, O’Reilly was firmly isolated in the wrong corner, being picked apart by all three brits. Dunne had him in a chinlock, letting go to attack Strong, but taking a Dragon Screw. Burch came in, got dropped with a backslide, before applying a single leg crab.
O’Reilly was free after being stomped by Dunne, but a double lariat dropped both men. Dunne tagged in and applied an ankle lock, O’Reilly forced to counter out. Balor got a tag, and picked up with Dunne where Sunday left off. He’d go for 1918, Dunne countered out before taking the sling blade.
Burch tried to hand Dunne one of the NXT Tag Team Championships, leading to the referee getting crushed by a shotgun dropkick. Balor went up top, but was shoved off by Adam Cole! Cole followed this up with a pump kick to O’Reilly, before a suplex onto the steel steps.
Strong would save Balor from Lorcan, but grabbed the title belt to throw it out of the ring. Balor figured it was Strong who shoved him, and kicked him in the head. Dunne took advantage and nailed the Bitter End to win.
