With the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view around the corner, WWE Smackdown Preview expects to have a couple of matches set tonight.
One of those is the continuation of the WWE’s current overdrawn feud between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens, but there’ll be a twist.
Since Owens should’ve won the Universal Championship in their last match to make the prolonged feud worthwhile, he’ll remain a thorn in Reigns’ side following hitting a surprise stunner on him last week.
Now, we’re probably going to get a tag match or something similar for Owens to hand over the feud to Edge for WrestleMania.
So a tag match isn’t out of the question, but we expect Reigns to want to teach Owens and Edge a lesson and work out a way for them to be in an Elimination Chamber match against his chosen team.
Kind of a Survivor Series type of set up, and since the Elimination Chamber is on that vein it won’t be too hard to pull off.
The only question is if Reigns will set it up so he and his group are all out waiting for Owens and Edge.
Return of the Messiah
With the tribal chief run turning stale, it’s the perfect time for the show’s top heel to step back into the spotlight.
As great and Reigns has been as the show’s heel, Seth Rollins was that and more on Raw. And much like Reigns’ current feud, his run was tarnished with a far too long feud with the Mysterios.
Though we expected him to return last week after appearing at the Royal Rumble, we’re not complaining as he’ll add another fun element to Smackdown.
Of course, the show hasn’t any faces to speak of that haven’t been main eventing lately, so there is always the possibility he turns face to challenge Reigns to add some uncertainty heading toward WrestleMania.
More likely Rollins will start a feud with someone the WWE needs or wants to put over, and we’re thinking it’ll could be with a returning Aleister Black.
It’s been reported that Black is fine and being held back for the right time, and this would be a perfect time for him to come out and spoiler Rollins’ return and pick up their feud but with different aspects.
What we’re thinking is Black will come back as an edgier persona after his previous ordeal at Rollins’ hands.
This would be an awesome way to bring both of them back and hit the ground running to give Smackdown an additional top level feud to take the pressure off of Reigns until they move on from Owens.
