This week’s WWE Smackdown Preview is going to be a little different as the WWE hasn’t released anything as if this writing, so we’re going to have some speculation on what we expect to see.
Seth Rollins’ return
One of the biggest pieces of news would normally be the return of Seth Rollins after his time off to help Becky Lynch with their newborn.
Because it’s not, we’re thinking it could mean the WWE is trying to keep it quiet for a “surprise” tonight through most everyone knows he was one of the finalists in the Royal Rumble.
Of course, he could’ve just returned for that match just as Lynch teased she was returning, but we don’t think so.
The question is, will he return as the Messiah or will he give a face turn another try? Maybe even feud with Roman Reigns to bring back memories of the Shield?
Roman Reigns to feud with Edge
Now that Reigns should be done with Kevin Owens following what was a time waster match since Owens didn’t win like he should have, it’s time for Reigns to move on.
On candidate is a feud with Shinsuke Nakamura since they teased that a couple of weeks ago. This would be an interesting one as Cesaro would be at Nakamura’s side to even the odds.
Most likely, Edge will pop in and Reigns will confront him and expect him to bend a knee.
Edge won’t comply and we could see an altercation between the two, but will this lead to anything of substance?
Big E gets the better of Sami Zayn again
After the last couple of weeks, WWE Smackdown Preview expect Big E to get his hands on Zayn in the ring or backstage and beat the stuffing out of him.
Although, if Zayn somehow gets an Intercontinental Championship match, we wouldn’t be surprised if Zayn somehow pulls out the win.
Aleister Black has also been rumored to return shortly, and this would be a great moment for him to do so by jumping into a championship picture.
Possibly setting up a Fatal Four Way between Big E, Zayn, Black, and Apollo Crews.
Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode) start a feud with somebody
Ziggler and Roode have been quiet the last couple of weeks, and it’s probably due to the lack of tag teams the WWE has in general.
This would indicate the WWE is letting things cool off before bringing them and the Street Profits back to face off, but there are other options.
Since they broke up Heavy Machinery, maybe the Lucha House Party could start another feud.
These four would make a really fun bunch of matches and keep us on the edge of our seats. Or maybe Edge and Christian can rejoin for a short run?
It’s not like the WWE’s been shy about double champions or double challengers lately.
Sasha Banks to feud with Ruby Riott
It’s safe to say that Carmella is in Sasha Banks’ rearview mirror and she’ll need a new challenger.
We’d love to see Ruby Riott get into a feud with Banks as the two of them could put together a really fun match.
Like many of their talent, Riott has been hamstrung by WWE booking as they tend to focus only on a couple of people at a time, but we’d love to see her and Banks get into a friendly feud.
They’ve been toying with pushing the Riott Squad the last few weeks, and this would be a great chance to get Riott and Liz Morgan into something that’s not a side story.
Although is this does happen, we expect it to last a single match as Rhea Ripley could pop in as has been teased for weeks.
She’ll want to challenge Banks, and that’ll set Belair and the rest of the roster on her for thinking she can come in and jump to the head of the line.
