QT Marshall is sick of just being viewed as ‘Cody Rhodes friend’ or ‘Dustin Rhodes partner’. He’s sick of being ignored as part of the Nightmare Family, as he’s a 16 year pro. Tonight, he faces Cody Rhodes in a special exhibition match, with Arn Anderson as the special guest referee. QT is one of the hardest working men behind the scenes in AEW, and is ready to break out on camera as well.
QT Marshall Doesn’t Even Get An Entrance
Driving in the point of Marshall, is that Rhodes gets a big entrance while he doesn’t get televised. The Nightmare Family would surround the ring, all trained by both Rhodes & Marshall, except Billy Gunn who obviously doesn’t need more training. This match was announced as not being sanctioned by AEW, due to being more of a Nightmare Family exhibition, meaning results won’t be recorded towards rankings.
Rhodes shook the hand of Marshall to start, before they locked up. Marshall proved he can match Rhodes in the lockups, before looking for a single leg pick. Rhodes blocked this, but didn’t follow up due to the nature of this match. Marshall shoved Rhodes off a headlock attempt, but took a shoulder tackle.
Rhodes blocked an armdrag with one of his own, before looking for an armbar. Marshall was able to turn this around and get a wrist lock. Rhodes was able to counter and showed he could have stomped the face, but didn’t. Marshall was hit with the drop down throat thrust, and came back with a dropkick.
Turning His Back On The Nightmare Family
Aggression picked up as Marshall focused on the injured shoulder of Rhodes, hitting shoulder tackles into it before a wild arm whip. He’d be thrown shoulder first into the turnbuckle, and Anderson was telling Marshall to lay off the arm, it’s just an exhibition.
Rhodes came back with a hard strike before having his arm attacked some more. Marshall would keep going, until Rhodes was able to hit a quick powerslam. Rhodes could have applied a Figure Four, but didn’t. He set up the Cross Rhodes, but didn’t hit it. Rhodes was staying true to his words and just showing he can out-wrestle Marshall. Marshall went for a diving crossbody, and Rhodes dodged.
Rhodes let him back in the ring, and Marshall knocked Arn Anderson out with a cheap shot before storming off. Aaron Solow, Nick Comoroto, and Anthony Ogogo seemed to aligned with Marshall, and helped beat down the rest of The Nightmare Family. It seems Marshall has built his own group out of the Nightmare Family, and this one ended with Lee Johnson getting powerbombed to the stage, Arn Anderson hit with an armbreaker on the stage, and Dustin Rhodes piledrivered onto steel steps. Ogogo nailed a liver punch to Rhodes, and Red Velvet saved Rhodes from being hit with a chair.
