Mike Tyson and Dana White both appeared on a podcast this week talking about Jake Paul’s credentials in the ring, which left White being so sure of his stance that he was willing to bet $1 million that Paul would lose his upcoming fight against Ben Askren.
The whole saga left Tyson in stitches, as he could be heard laughing while the whole exchange between the UFC president and Zab Judah was taking place. But, Tyson also revealed that he didn’t think much of Paul’s chances either and claimed that he wasn’t a boxer.
UFC News: White Can’t See Past Askren
Talking about the upcoming fight between the YouTuber and former UFC star, White claimed that he couldn’t see past Askren getting the win, as he is a trained fighter and not somebody that is famed for being a social media star. However, Judah revealed that he wouldn’t rule out the social media star just yet, as he thinks that he has the credentials to put up a good fight against the former MMA star. Paul will have the added advantage of having been in the ring previously, as he has fought on two occasions.
Most recently, he knocked out former basketball star Nate Robinson back in November. Askren hasn’t been in the boxing ring before, as this will be his first professional fight. The 36-year-old will also be at a slight disadvantage given that Paul is taller than him.
UFC News: Paul Hits Back At White
It wasn’t long before the video went viral on social media, and that grabbed the attention of Paul. He immediately raised the stakes for the fight, and urged the UFC president to go double or quits if he is that confident that Askren will beat him when they come up against each other. He also teased that White should get into the ring and face him himself if he is such an expert in the sport.
It was easy to notice that Paul fell just short on calling out both of the stars that ridiculed his boxing ability, as it appeared as though he didn’t fancy his chances of getting in the ring with Mike Tyson. The fight between Askren and Paul is set to take place on April 17th at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
