One of the biggest nights of the year in the UFC takes place this weekend, as UFC 260 takes place at the UFC Apex. There is a stacked card of highly engaging fights set to take place, but there is no denying that the fight that most fans are looking forward to will come in the main event.
Stipe Miocic will defend his heavyweight title in a rematch with Francis Ngannou. But, which of the two heavyweights will be walking out of the UFC Apex with the title?
UFC News: Miocic Looking Dominant
Miocic will be many peoples pick for the winner of the main event, as he has been in excellent form in his last two UFC appearances. He stunningly lost the heavyweight title to Daniel Cormier back in July 2018, but has since regained the title from the same opponent, and then regained the gold in his most recent outing in the octagon.
Cormier received a lot of praise in the latter of the fights, as the fight went the distance, but there was more of a sense that Miocic would have been disappointed not to have capped that performance off with a knockout success.
The defeat that he suffered in the first round against Cormier back in July 2018 at UFC 226 is the only blip on his record in recent years, but he has managed to become the dominant force in the heavyweight division. His win over Ngannou back in January 2018 saw him go into the history books for the most consecutive defences of the heavyweight title, and that is something that he will be looking to emulate once again this weekend.
UFC News: Ngannou Looking To Avenge Defeat
The aim for the challenger looks to be a pretty straightforward one. Ngannou will be looking to avenge the defeat that he suffered against Miocic back at UFC 220. There were fears that he was never going to reach those heights again after a decision defeat against Derrick Lewis in his following fight, but his performances over the last two years or so have been phenomenal.
Ngannou has fought on four occasions since defeat against Lewis, and he has won the Performance of the Night award on three of those four occasions. The only time that he didn’t came in his first round knockout success against Cain Valasquez. His most recent outing in the octagon was another first round knockout, as he beat Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the opening round of their contest back in May last year.
