The road to WrestleMania is getting shorter with every passing week, and the superstars on Raw wasted little time in paving out their route to a match on the biggest show of the year on Monday evening. Among the matches announced were Bad Bunny against The Miz and Rhea Ripley vs Asuka.
As well as that, the official announcement for The Fiend against Randy Orton was also made during Raw last night. But, which way could two of the most high-profile matches go at the biggest show the year?
WWE News: Rhea Ripley vs Asuka
Rhea Ripley’s arrival on Raw this past Monday was made official during the Fastlane PPV, and there were few surprises that she immediately set her sights on the Raw Women’s Championship. Ripley was in a strong spot 12 months ago at Mania, as she took on Charlotte Flair for the NXT Women’s Championship, but ultimately came up short. There is still a slight chance that Flair could be yet added to the championship match, as it was revealed on social media that she has been missing for the past couple of weeks after testing positive for COVID.
However, fans would be much happier to see just the singles match between Ripley and Asuka. The latter’s title reign has been a bit underwhelming to say the least, but Mania could bring the curtain down on her run, as we expect Ripley to get the rub on what could be her first night on the main roster.
WWE News: Bad Bunny vs The Miz
The celebrity involvement at Mania has been a common trend throughout its history, and that is no different this year. It has looked for a couple of weeks now that Bad Bunny was heading into a match against The Miz, and that’s the way it played out on Raw last night.
The Miz threw down the challenge, and that was emphatically answered by the rapper later on in the evening as he attacked The Miz from behind. It certainly won’t be the most competitive in-ring match of the night at Mania, but those that are fans of Bad Bunny will certainly feel as though he is deserving of a Mania. Celebrity matches normally see the faces go over, but that will leave The Miz in an unusual position going forward.
