After the news that NXT will be moving to Tuesday night on April 14th, this means tonight is the final normal episode of NXT on a Wednesday. Next week is Night One of NXT Takeover: Stand and Deliver, and tonight takes care of those final preparations with a Battle Royal to determine who enters the gauntlet match at Takeover. We also see Cameron Grimes face Roderick Strong, and Team Ninja face off with Tian Sha. Let’s break down this action and more!
Stacked Battle Royale To Thin The Field Before NXT Takeover
On night one of NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver, we have a 6 man gauntlet match with the winner going on to face Johnny Gargano on night two for the NXT North American Championship. Tonight Dexter Lumis, Bronson Reed, Leon Ruff, Cameron Grimes, Roderick Strong, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Pete Dunne, LA Knight, Kushida, Tyler Rust, Jake Atlas and Austin Theory will all battle it out, with the last six men in the ring moving to next week. It’ll be typical over the top rope rules here.
Roderick Strong & Cameron Grimes Are Also Announced For Singles Action
In addition to the Battle Royale, Roderick Strong and Cameron Grimes will mix it up in singles action. Strong is a bit lost after the breakup of The Undisputed Era, with Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly fighting in an unsanctioned match at Takeover and Bobby Fish out injured. Grimes is meanwhile flying high after he was able to beat Bronson Reed a few weeks back. If anyone could work double duty and have a chance to make Takeover in the Battle Royale, it’s both of these men, as they have large gas tanks in the ring.
Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro Meet Tian Sha In The Ring
With there now being proper NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships around, it’s time for the division to be fleshed out properly. Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro are a solid team for sure, but we still don’t know what Mei Ling is capable of in the ring. Tonight she finally leaves her ominous throne to enter the ring alongside Xia Li, as they look to put Carter & Catanzaro down for good.
