For the first time in years, Roderick Strong is truly alone in NXT. The Undisputed Era is dead, as Kyle O’Reilly & Adam Cole rekindle their pre-WWE feud with an unsanctioned match at NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver. He’ll need to learn to perform without the shield of three men watching his back.
However, the workhorse of the group isn’t waiting around to find his next ride to the top, he’s just gonna power his way back to championship glory. Tonight, that starts with Cameron Grimes. Grimes recently came into wealth, but he can’t buy wins, and he knows how hard Roderick Strong is to keep down.
Cameron Grimes Wants To Rebuild The Undisputed Era In His Image
Last week Grimes tried to buy the Undisputed Era IP, and got punched out. Grimes this week had a Grimes the System shirt and theme song made, and Strong attacked. Strong got him in the ring, and used his skills to wrestle Grimes down.
Grimes came back with some elbow strikes, before grabbing a front face lock. Strong fought out and hit a chop, but Grimes came right back. He’d grind the face of Strong off the ropes, before Strong came back with a signature jumping knee to the jaw. Grimes had his arms trapped in the ropes, before Strong hit a WALTER level of chop.
Strong was fighting on emotion, and Grimes was using this to keep getting back using calculated attacks. Grimes was hit with a dropkick before being sent over the top rope. Strong hit the Wrecking Ball dropick, before some heavy chops. However, he saw someone in the crowd wearing an Undisputed Era shirt and that allowed Grimes to shove him into the barricade.
Roderick Strong Finds Some Focus
Grimes would get Strong back in the ring, and maintained control by keeping him grounded. This didn’t work, but Strong only got a single chop off before Grimes sent him chest first into the turnbuckle, before taking him down with the swinging side slam for a two count.
Grimes kicked Strong in the jaw, but Strong just came back with some more chops. He’d hit a big clothesline, and Grimes just came back with a forearm to get another near fall. Grimes set up a German Suplex, but Strong countered into a Fireman’s Carry. Strong followed up with a backbreaker for a two count, before setting up and nailing a superplex.
Grimes was battered with some running elbows, before hitting a spanish fly for a two count. Strong nailed an angle slam as Grimes pulled something out of his trunks. Grimes had an Undisputed Era armband, and this distracted Strong enough to hit the Cave-in for the win.
