Just by reading the names involved in this match, you know that it’s not gonna be a pretty and flashy match. After overhearing the NXT Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch being relieved that they didn’t have to face MSK yet, Tommaso Ciampa requested a match.
He’ll team with his Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic partner and latest rival, Timothy Thatcher. There are gonna be a lot of bumps and bruises suffered in this non-title match. Thatcher was hanging out with his old Ringkampf buddies before the bell, now known as Imperium.
Danny Burch & Oney Lorcan Bring Champion Level Fight
Thatcher would start with Burch, and Thatcher was able to take him down to the mat with ease. Burch tilted into a pinfall and was able to get to his feet, only to end up back down and having his arm attacked with knee strikes and an armbar. Thatcher & Burch threw strikes, and had a chance to tag but didn’t take it right away. Ciampa would get a tag, but only after Thatcher got a few more blows in.
Burch drove Ciampa into his corner to get Lorcan in, letting him trade blows with Ciampa in the ring. They’d both give as good as they got, but Lorcan used the beard of Ciampa to get an edge before being taken to the mat. Ciampa would send Lorcan to the apron and hit him with a knee strike, sending him to the mat. He’d look to do the same to Burch, but this meant turning his back on Lorcan who went for a rollup, getting two.
Thatcher was tagged back in, and alongside Ciampa hit a pop up uppercut to punish Lorcan. He’d have a chinlock applied, and Lorcan had to fight off the mat. Lorcan grabbed at the face of Thatcher to break free, and was able to hit a chop block. Burch tagged in and they’d try to double team Thatcher, but he hit a Belly to Belly Suplex before being run through with a lariat. As we went to commercial, Thatcher was potentially injured on the outside.
Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher Get Some Visitors
Coming back to the action, Thatcher was isolated in the ring by a single leg crab from Lorcan. He’d kick his way free, but shoved Lorcan into Burch. Burch failed to regain control, and Thatcher tagged in Ciampa who hit anyone in the ring that was balding besides himself. He’d batter both men with running lariats before taking Burch into his corner. Thatcher got some revenge filled uppercut, before tagging in Ciampa for some strikes.
Ciampa let Thatcher in again, and Burch was sent into the middle of the ring for some more abuse with a chinlock. Lorcan failed to break it and was beaten down by Ciampa. Burch barely avoided a German Suplex thanks to Lorcan, and got an elbow to the ear of Thatcher. Thatcher was hit with a Half & Half Suplex as this match broke down, all men taking each other down with hard strikes.
Imperium came to ringside and this distracted Thatcher. This led to him being dropped with a combo DDT from the champions to end the match. What does Imperium want with Thatcher & Ciampa? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
