One of the things WWE Smackdown Preview can’t stand is the constant stream of gimmick matches the WWE uses to make their version of interesting television.
It’s become a common practice many use to spice things up, but when it’s weekly it losses some of it’s appeal, but thankfully, the matches are generally pretty good if they’re allowed to run their course.
To add “excitement” to Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship match at WWE Fastlane, Jey Uso and Edge will face each other for the position of special enforcer.
It’s debatable whether or not a special enforcer is needed in the match, which means it’s simply to build on the feud between Edge and Reigns.
We also get Edge in a WWE ring outside of a pay-per-view so that’s a win.
To the end we mentioned above, the safe bet would be for Edge to win and then have a hand in the outcome that will create a second feud with the loser (probably Bryan) for costing him an opportunity.
This will lead to Bryan challenging Edge for the Universal Championship when Edge possibly wins at WrestleMania.
Ulterior motive
On the flip side, Jey Uso winning would give him another opportunity to him help Reigns win but recent hints would suggest he’d betray Reigns.
We don’t see him betraying Reigns yet, but he’ll wait for Reigns’ championship to be on the line or so he can win it to turn on the Head of the Table.
This match will most likely end with everyone becoming involved after the match, with Reigns standing tall as the show goes off the air.
As to who will win, it seems obvious Edge will given it’s his first match on Smackdown in years, but him losing would spoil his return. Having Jey be the special enforcer also seems just as obvious.
We’re going with Edge winning so he can further build heat with whomever wins at Fastlane for their WrestleMania Match.
While the booking has been highly questionable, the matches have been good ones more than not so that’ll help balance out the gimmicks.
This match looks no different, though they can pass on the ending scrum since they did it for the last two pay-per-views.
We think it’d be awesome if they want to add more, then had the enforcer fight off Reigns to show a perceived non-committal to one side or the other to make any actions at Fastlane more intriguing.
Of course, we could easily be wrong with out pick and it won’t be the first of last time.
So let us know who you think will win and why in the comments below. We’d love to hear them and WWE Smackdown Preview can’t wait to see how everything plays out tonight.
