Matt Riddle has continued his verbal assault on The Undertaker by aiming at dig at the old school wrestling stars and has compared the wrestling world to a high school.
Matt Riddle Continues To Blast The Undertaker
During an interview with the Metro, Matt seemingly singled out The Undertaker for not embracing the new generation of stars and instead choosing to create a division. He said: “Pro wrestling is the most outlandish high school you’ll ever go to. Monday Night Raw is just like, ‘what’s gonna happen this week?’
“If anybody has a problem with anybody, nobody says it. It’s always like, ‘pst pst’. I’m like, why are we hearing stuff like this? ‘Say something, do something! I’m not saying you have to go The Undertaker route and fight each other and be men about it!”
Matt then appeared to single out The Undertaker for not doing enough to integrate with the new generation of wrestlers. He felt that The Undertaker had a duty to guide the new stars just as other legends had done. He continued: “Some of the legends come in, and they find their own locker room.
“They stay away from the boys. But then there’s legends like Gillberg, Edge, Christian – legends like that, they came in, they sat with all the boys in the main locker room. We jib-jabbed, flapped gums, talked shop and had fun.” So when did this mutual hatred all start? Well, it stems from The Undertaker’s recent comments where he questioned the current generation of wrestlers for being too soft.
He previously told TMZ: “The product [wrestling] has changed so much, and it’s kind of off. I’ll probably piss a lot of people off, but they need to hear it. It is what it is. To the young guys [who think] he’s a bitter old guy, I’m not bitter. I did my time; I walked away when I wanted to walk away.
“I just think the product is a little soft. There’s guys here and there that have an edge to them, but there’s too much pretty and not enough substance, I think right now.” The comments from Matt have gotten personal, which has forced other wrestling stars to chime in.
One, in particular, Brooker T attacked Matt for overstepping the mark. He said: “The respect issue goes a long frickin’ way more than anything. That’s where the business is totally different than it was when I was coming up.”
