Next week on Night Two of NXT Takeover: Stand & Deliver, the final nail goes into the coffin of The Undisputed Era. Adam Cole faces Kyle O’Reilly in an unsanctioned match, and they will tear each other apart. Meanwhile, Roderick Strong is broken and has left for some time off from the ring, unable to even see an Undisputed Era T-Shirt without breaking mentally. However, one man has been absent from this major storyline, that being two time NXT Tag Team Champion and founding member, Bobby Fish.
Where Is Bobby Fish?
We haven’t heard from Bobby Fish since NXT Takeover: WarGames IV back in December of 2020. The Undisputed Era were victorious over the team of Danny Burch, Oney Lorcan, Pat McAfee & Pete Dunne. However, during the match he suffered an elbow injury, and had to undergo surgery.
The spot which caused the injury to Bobby Fish seemed to be the one where Pete Dunne stomped his arm onto the metal border between the two rings. Surgery was performed in order to re-attach Fish’s triceps. This has kept him out of action since then, but this was nothing new for Fish, who seemed to constantly get injured, spending many iconic moments of the history of The Undisputed Era with some type of injury.
Could Fish Have Quietly Retired?
While Fish being injured is a reason why he hasn’t been seen on TV, he hasn’t even been mentioned during the current storyline. This is odd, given that Fish & O’Reilly have been a steady tag team since 2012. O’Reilly stated that he’s done with all members of the group after a decade of teaming with Fish coming up, which sat wrong with many fans.
This has led some to assume that perhaps, Bobby Fish is nearing or has reached the end of his career. He’s 44 years old, and after 18 years in the ring and near constant injuries, he might be time to hang up his boots. O’Reilly has been set for singles success, as has Roderick Strong & Adam Cole. But Fish has always been a tag team specialist.
His skillset expands beyond the ring, as shown by his Fish Tank segments in Ring Of Honor, and he could make a great manager for either O’Reilly or an up and coming star in WWE. Fish also has a great amount of knowledge to share after his career, making him a solid trainer for the WWE Performance Center.
Hopefully we see Bobby Fish back soon, but if his career has quietly reached its end? WarGames is a helluva way to cap off an in-ring career. Do you expect to see Bobby Fish back? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
