Just over 24 hours ago we reported that the highly coveted trilogy bout between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor was off after a dispute between the two fighters on social media. However, fast forward a day, and everything has changed again. This time it is positive news for MMA fans, as Dana White has officially announced that Poirier and McGregor will meet in the octagon for a third time in July.
The announcement also saw White reveal that the fight, which will be taking place on 10th July, will be taking place in Las Vegas. He revealed that it would be taking place at the T-Mobile Arena in front of a packed house.
UFC News: Trilogy Match Announced
It had been a nervy 24 hours for fight fans, as they were worried that McGregor’s claims could have been accurate. However, like many of his bold statements, it was quickly reversed just a day later. Fans will remember the Irishman retiring from UFC only to return just over a later. This time it is once again good news, as the fight will be a welcome sight for fans.
Not only the announcement of the fight will please fans, but the fact that there are also plans to have spectators in the Las Vegas arena. The UFC has been taking place behind closed doors for much of the last year, and the return of MMA crowds would make this one of the hottest tickets in town.
UFC News: Vegas Back Open
In the statement, White revealed that Sin City will be back in operation this summer, and fans for the UFC will be welcome back with open arms. He also admitted that they are planning ahead with having 100% capacity at the famous venue. That means that 20,000 fans are expected to be in attendance. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out if they can go either, as the tickets for the event will be going on sale later this week.
It will be a hot ticket for fans to get their hands on, but it hasn’t been announced yet whether many of McGregor’s home fans will be able to make the journey. The hardcore branch of McGregor fans would be looking to fly in from Ireland, but any announcement on travel plans for later in the year aren’t expected to be announced until closer to the time of the fight.
