We are now in the month when WrestleMania takes place, and that means SmackDown will be taken into another gear on Friday night. There will be a mix of mainstream appeal and huge matches on the show this evening, which should make for compelling viewing. But, what could go down on SmackDown this evening?
WWE News: Logan Paul Aligns With Sami Zayn
It was announced last week that Logan Paul would be appearing on SmackDown, as Sami Zayn revealed that the trailer for his documentary will air on the show. Paul seemingly confirmed that he would be appearing on the show after sending a reply to Zayn’s tweet last week. However, what his part will be in the ongoing feud between Zayn and Kevin Owens is intriguing.
It’s very rare that a celebrity comes in and is a heel from the get-go, but the WWE could do that with Paul and align him immediately with Owens. Paul’s history in boxing, albeit not a winning record, means that he could get actively involved in the storyline and attack Owens. Owens/Zayn was always set to be an entertaining match at Mania regardless, but this does add a mainstream element that could see the stock of both superstars elevated.
WWE News: Adam Pearce To Be Beaten Down
Adam Pearce certainly hasn’t made himself any new friends on SmackDown over the last couple of weeks. Edge and Roman Reigns are both furious that Daniel Bryan has been added to their title match at Mania, and there could be repercussions for his decision last week. Edge or Reigns could look to get even with Pearce and deliver a beat down on him this week on SmackDown.
Out of the two, it is more likely to be Edge that delivers the beat down, as he is turning more heel with every passing week. Reigns is far more relaxed in his approach for the main event, and it could be Bryan that springs into action to save Pearce.
WWE News: Baron Corbin Traded To Raw
On Monday night we saw Baron Corbin on Raw, but MVP has announced on social media that the King isn’t part of the Hurt Business. However, his attack on Drew McIntyre means that there is every chance that he could be drafted to the red brand. However, that would raise the question of who SmackDown could get in exchange for Corbin.
One of the front-runners would certainly be Keith Lee, who seems to be lost in the pack on Raw, and hasn’t been involved in a meaningful feud so far this year.
