A pre-show is good and all when it’s just analysis about the coming card, but with a stacked roster like you’ll find in NXT? Why not slip an extra match in. Last night saw Zoey Stark & Toni Storm take this role, and tonight we have a #1 contenders match for a shot at the new NXT Tag Team Champions, MSK. It’ll be either former champions Breezango, or the odd couple duo of Killian Dain & Drake Maverick!
Breezango Are Dressed For The Weekend
Breezango dressed more for Wrestlemania than Takeover, dressed like pirates, Breeze even kept his coat and hat on as he started with Dain. Dain didn’t agree and ripped his hat off, before Breeze tagged in Fandango who was hit with a hip toss.
Maverick tagged in but was taken down with a shoulder block, before Maverick blocked a sunset flip and danced. Fandango commented that that is his gimmick, and Maverick was ready for blood. Maverick put the hat of Fandango on Dain, which caused a distraction that Fandango took advantage of. Dain tagged in with a chop, before throwing Maverick at Fandango.
Fandango hit a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, before tagging in Breeze who hit a snap suplex. When he went for a cover, his coat covered the face of Maverick which adds insult to injury. Fandango tagged in and hit a delayed vertical suplex, before getting Breeze back in as Maverick tried to get to Dain.
Breeze hit a quick leg drop, before applying a chin lock on Maverick as Fandango danced on the apron. Maverick got up but took a knee strike and then had to deal with Fandango. Breeze finally took his entrance coat off, before hitting a double kick with Fandango for a near fall.
Killian Dain Is The Difference Maker
Maverick would end up in the wrong part of town, but used his size and speed to make a tag to Dain. Dain came in fast with a crossbody block, before slipping over the top rope and taking Breeze in with a lariat. Fandango was planted with a uranage, before Dain hit a senton over the top rope, before slamming both opponents.
Dain got Fandango into his corner for some tag team offense, but Breeze came in and took Maverick out with a superkick before a double superkick staggered Dain. Fandango was setting up for The Last Dance, but Dain crotched him up top. Maverick took him down with a hurricarana off the top rope, and Killian Dain powerbombed his partner onto Fandango for the win.
