Isla Dawn has been embracing her true nature lately, and living up to her “White Witch” nickname. Joining up with NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray isn’t hurting her reputation either, and after going deep in a tag team match against Emilia McKenzie & Meiko Satomura alongside KLR last week, Dawn has a singles test this week after being pinned. She’s the first one on one match for McKenzie on her return to NXT UK, and Dawn has a chance to shut this rookie out.
Emilia McKenzie With The Fast Start
McKenzie & Dawn would lock up, with Dawn shoving McKenzie into the corner before being fought off. A headlock would be applied, and Dawn had a hard time trying to break it. McKenzie wouldn’t hold it forever, before going for some arm drags, with two landing before she moved to the swinging neckbreaker.
Dawn would kick out at two, before nailing a running dropkick to corner McKenzie. Some quick kicks and a high angle backdrop driver would punish McKenzie, as Dawn got into her sadistic groove in this match. Dawn went for the Fisherman Buster, but McKenzie was able to counter into a Small Package for the two count.
Isla Dawn Closes This One Out
McKenzie would be grabbed into the Butterfly Submission, and Dawn would bend her in into an awkward angle. Dawn had the hold broke, and McKenzie fought back with some forearms and a low dropkick. McKenzie missed a running elbow but nailed the slingshot spear for a two count, exploding out of the corner.
Dawn again kicked out at two, and was able to hit a running knee before the Fisherman Suplex. McKenzie kicked out at two and dumped Dawn on her head with a backdrop. A front dropkick sent Dawn into the corner, and McKenzie would nail some feral looking strikes to her opponent. The referee pulled her off, and Dawn used this opening to hit a high kick and Dragon Suplex for the win.
A short while ago, Isla Dawn couldn’t buy a win, and now she’s dropped the big returning McKenzie in just over five minutes. This was an upset win for sure. Is it a mistake to have Emilia McKenzie drop a singles match so early in her return to NXT UK? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
