Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Live Results!
I’m your host, CP Bialois, and we’re set for what looks like a fun show with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan squaring off in a Universal Championship vs. Smackdown Career match.
Will Bryan prevail or will Reigns keep his title and get rid of a major thorn in his side?
Apollo Crews will also defend the Intercontinental Championship against Big E, but will Commander Azeez play a role in this outcome?
Plenty of fun ahead, so let’s grab some snacks and settle in for the 8 p.m. EST start time.
Segment 1
Bianca Belair came out, and was interrupted by the Dirty Dawgs, who were interrupted by the Street Profits, who were then interrupted by Bayley.
An all out brawl ensued as we headed to commercial.
Segment 2
Mixed 6 Person Tag Match – The Dirty Dawgs (Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler) and Bayley vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) and Bianca Belair
This was a decent match that Ford won after hitting a From the Heavens on Roode for the win.
Belair saved a pin on Dawkins with a hair whip to Roode’s back to set up the win, and the Street Profits are on their way to challenging for the tag belts again.
Segment 3
Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler w/Reginald vs. Tamina and Natalya
This was another decent match and it went back and forth before Tamina hit a Superfly Splash off the top rope on Baszler for the win.
Segment 4
Intercontinental Championship – Apollo Crews (c) w/Commander Azeez vs. Big E
This started off with Big E dominating, but Crews took over and hit a suplex off the apron onto the floor as we headed to commercial.
Segment 5
Big E hit a Big Ending but Azeez pulled him off the cover for the disqualification.
He then threw Big E into the ring post. Owens ran out and went after Azeez, then Sami Zayn came out to hit Owens with a Helluva Kick.
Azeez hit Zayn with a Nigerian Nail for good measure. No surprise on this ending but it was a good match.
Segment 6
Paul Heyman gave a great mocking account of Daniel Bryan’s career accomplishments, but said he won’t beat Reigns and he won’t be seen on Smackdown again.
Segment 7
Universal Championship – Roman Reigns (c) w/Paul Heyman vs. Daniel Bryan
Bryan started out fast, hitting a dropkick right off them bat, and after a flurry by Reigns, he hit a running knee off the apron as we headed to commercial.
Segment 8
Bryan kept fighting back and went for a hurrincanrana off the top rope, but Reigns blocked it and hit a powerbomb for a near pinfall as we headed to commercial.
Segment 9
Bryan sent Reigns to the floor, then sidestepped a spear and Reigns went through the barricade as we headed to commercial.
Segment10
Reigns locked in a guillotine after surviving a Yes! Lock, and the ref ignored that Reigns pinned himself a couple of times in the attempt.
After winning, Reigns grabbed a chair but Cesaro came out. Jey Uso hit Cesaro with a superkick and tied Cesaro in the ropes to watch as Reigns hit an unconscious Bryan with a steel chair
This was a great match, but it and the show were the most predictable we’ve seen in a while.
