After ending up on a losing streak, SCU swore that they would climb their way up to the AEW World Tag Team Championships again. This came with a mutual agreement, as both Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian decided that their next loss was their last. Now on a 15 match tag team win streak, they have a chance to accomplish their goal. They will face The Young Bucks, and look to end their 186 day reign. Tonight will either end in glory or crushing defeat for SCU, with their fate in their own hands.
The Young Bucks Didn’t Come Alone
The Young Bucks didn’t come alone to this match, have The Good Brothers & Brandon Cutler in their corner. Kazarian started with Nick and took him down only to slap him on the back of the head. Nick slapped back, and Kazarian was getting mad early. Daniels got a tag, and would work with Kazarian to ensure Matt couldn’t help his brother. SCU were making quick tags as they beat Nick down with a combination of strikes.
Matt would successfully dump a running Daniels over the top rope before properly tagging in and hitting a wrecking ball dropkick. Daniels would be powerbombed onto the apron, before being held up for Nick to hit a jumping senton bomb. The Young Bucks would hit a combination gamiguri, before Matt nailed a foot stop for a two count.
Nick Jackson would get caught with an STO from Daniels, and Kazarian got a tag. He’d run through both Young Bucks and hit a scoop slam before taking flight with the springboard leg drop. SCU hit a Blue Thunder Bomb & Neckbreaker combo for a two count, before Matt would be hit with Celebrity Rehab. Best Meltzer Ever was set up, but Matt was able to shove Daniels off the top rope.
Goodnight, SCU
Nick would get Kazarian with a rising knee strike before the running bulldog, before hitting a facebuster. On the outside, Daniels was superkicked head first into the ringpost, and he was bleeding like a stuck pig at ringside. The facade of Nick would be broken for just a moment and Kazarian was able to hit a slingshot cutter for a two count. He’d notice the condition of his partner, and realize he might need to win the tag belts alone.
The Young Bucks looked for More Bang For Your Buck, but was able to counter into a roll up, before also catching Matt with a Northern Lights Suplex. Kazarian would get a visual pinfall with a small package, but Gallows would distract the referee. Staying steady, Kazarian would pull out a trick from an old rival and nail Styles Clash for a two count.
The numbers game would catch up to Kazarian as he was hit with a superkick and a tombstone piledriver. Daniels was able to make the save and nailed The Angels Wings on Nick to take him out before tagging in. Matt would nail a spear and some punches to the bloody eye of Daniels, but Daniels would keep fighting even if he was finding it hard to stand. Yelling “I’m sorry, I love you” with eyes full of crocodile tears, Matt hit a superkick and Daniels kicked out.
Daniels came back with a uranage and hit the Best Moonsault Ever, but had a hard time getting up the first time. Another distraction from Gallows & Anderson allowed Matt to use the cold spray can to crack Daniels in the head. Daniels kicked out, but took a BTE Trigger and it was all over for SCU.
The Young Bucks are becoming one of the most detestable tag teams in the world today, and putting SCU out to pasture just helps to solidify this. It was a classic face performance from SCU, and they had the match won, only losing due to Bullet Club interference. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
