A couple of weeks back, rumors circulated that Impact Wrestling was looking for another company to work with and we’d hear about it soon.
We discussed the possibility of who it could be here, and our main pick was CMLL.
The problem with this is CMLL and AAA (who already works with Impact Wrestling) are rivals and it may not work out well.
This doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen, but it’d be a stretch.
Possible partnership
Another possibility is ROH (Ring of Honor) as they have a working relationship with NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling), and NJPW has a working relationship with AEW and Impact Wrestling.
This was something we were aware of, but it wasn’t until Don Callis mocked Moose’s accomplishments on last night’s IMPACT! that things snapped into place.
During his ridicule, Callis mentioned Moose’s lack of championships and said that he couldn’t even win a title in Ring of Honor. Callis also scoffed/snorted before he said Ring of Honor.
This got our wheels turning about the possibility of ROH joining Impact Wrestling and AEW in their partnership.
It could also be timed for after Impact and AEW go their separate ways, and we have a feeling that’s going to happen in the next few weeks.
Never meant to last
To be fair, we never expected AEW and Impact Wrestling’s partnership to be a forever thing as it’d run stale.
So, it makes sense they’re going to end things before too long, especially since AEW stopped doing paid advertisements weeks ago and have offered very little on air promotion.
It looks like the purpose of their deal was to get eyes on both promotions and leave it up to each to build on that and it works.
It could also be the plan if ROH and Impact Wrestling team up.
We may get lucky and AEW will stick around a little longer and it’ll give us four companies working together and creating tons of matchup opportunities for everyone involved.
While this may be pure speculation, it does feel like a legitimate option and it’d help get more eyes on other talent before WWE swoops in to try to sign them.
It’d be a cool way to help spread the talented Indie scene to those that may never watch them for one reason or another, and it’d be good for professional wrestling in general.
Do you think ROH and Impact Wrestling will be teaming up in the future or was Don Callis just trying to get some heat? Let us know in the comments below.
