When Chris Jericho was young, there were two things he wanted to become. A professional wrestler, and a rock star. Now at 50 years old, he’s widely considered to be one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, and has toured the world with his band Fozzy. He even uses ‘Judas’ as a theme song, one that AEW fans happily sing along with. However, it’s been a few years since their last album, and due time to get some new material out. Yesterday, they dropped their latest single titled ‘Sane’.
Fozzy Has Found A Sound That Works For Them, And Sane Is More Of That
Over their career, Fozzy has been trying to find a sound that gets them attention. From being a cover band with the gimmick that everyone stole their songs, to being a generic post-grunge band, nothing really worked until the last few years. Judas was their most successful album yet, with the lead single even spending 26 weeks on the Mainstream Rock Chart, where it peaked at number 5.
Sane sounds like it could have fit on that album, somewhere between Wordsworth Way & Burn Me Out. Fans of Fozzy will likely have it on repeat, and Jericho continues to be a decent vocalist, but there was nothing there to really hook listeners in like we saw with Judas. But if it ain’t broke, why bother fixing it? It comes alongside a music video filmed on the world’s longest wooden roller coaster.
Could Chris Jericho Have To Take Time Off From AEW To Tour With Fozzy?
With Fozzy gearing up to release a new album, and COVID-19 restrictions being loosened, we see Fozzy get back on tour to help promote the new album. Jericho has long used Fozzy tours as a way to get time off from the ring, but that was mainly due to the crazy house show schedule that comes with working in WWE.
With AEW, he will only need to be around for Wednesdays with Dynamite, making it easier to work around when setting up a tour. If not, we could see him vanish for a few months, perhaps even being written off at Double Or Nothing during Stadium Stampede.
A tour from July 14th to October 9th has been announced, but there are only a few conflicting dates in July and none in August. Jericho will likely mostly miss time in September and October. Do you plan on seeing Fozzy on tour? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
