AEW has been making some splashes lately with bringing in athletes from other sports like Mike Tyson and Shaquille O’Neil, and now Chris Jericho wants Tim Tebow in AEW.
AEW is owned by Tony Kahn, and Tony’s father owns the Jacksonville Jaguars where Tebow recently signed a one year deal to play as a tight end.
It’s realistic and would continue their trend of being open to athletes and personalities from all over the sports world, but only as long as they don’t expect him to take any bumps while he’s under an NFL contract.
The NFL doesn’t want/allow their players to take part is such things, though we’re sure there’s a loophole somewhere.
Rich Eisen Show
Rich Eisen is a legend in the sports media world from his days on ESPN to the NFL Network to his daily podcast now.
On his episode from April 12, 2021, Rich talked with Jericho about AEW’s success and whether Jericho can convince Jags owners, Shad Kahn, to allow Tebow to step into an AEW ring.
Special thanks to Ringside News for the transcript.
“It’s funny because we’ve had cameos – we had a cameo by Urban Meyer at one point. People always talk about Tebow, and now there’s so much of a spotlight on Jacksonville, and Tony Khan, who’s my boss, is very involved with the Jaguars. And I’m sure at some point, we’ll probably have cameos from all of those guys. And there’s no reason not to.” – Chris Jericho
Tebow has shown himself to be a good all around athlete and he could have a decent future in a wrestling ring if he chooses to.
There have been plenty of others that have transitioned for a brief run (Lawrence Taylor, Kevin Greene) to others that made it a solid career (Steve McMichael, Bill Goldberg, King Corbin, Moose).
This gives him a chance to expand his athletic life into a new arena and could make for a fun run, and we’re assuming Jericho and others will be there to help him along if needed.
Chris Jericho is one of the greats and it’s hard to imagine him throwing an idea out there if he doesn’t whole heartily believe in it, and this could be one of his more interesting ones if it come to fruition.
