Recently on Ring of Honor Week by Week, Primal Fear members Matthew Omen, Gabriel Hodder & Adrien Soriano defeated Will Ferrara, Dante Caballero and Eric Martin in a trios match. Shane Taylor sat in on commentary, and after the match simply let Primal Fear know the following, “If anybody wants it, they can come get it.” Now, Shane Taylor alongside the Soldiers of Savagery will defend the ROH Six Man Championships against Primal Fear.
Primal Fear walked to the ring for their biggest match yet, and with five years of experience behind them as a trio, they’re no slouch. However, Shane Taylor, Moses & Kaun are built differently. While they want to make opportunities for others, Primal Fear ran their mouths ahead of this match and pissed STP off. Never a smart move.
Primal Fear Should Fear Shane Taylor Promotions
Moses & Omen would start this match off, with Omen testing Moses with a kick. Omen would be thrown aside as he tried to grapple the big man, and was simply outmatched. Kaun & Hodder tagged in, and this was a bit more even but Hodder was thrown with a hip toss and ran down with a back elbow.
He’d tag in Soriano, who demanded Shane Taylor himself. Getting his wish, Taylor would outpower him with ease as expected. Soriano slapped Taylor across the face, and nearly got knocked out with a deadly forearm shot. Taylor would admire that Soriano got back up and not backing down, but a headbutt dropped him into the corner. Soriano was able to dodge a rolling senton, and brought Omen & Hodder in to stomp Taylor down.
The only way Primal Fear gets the win here is by isolating and destroying Shane Taylor, and they’d work on this in their corner. Quick tags and strikes set up an assisted moonsault, with Soriano getting a near fall. Taylor blocked a kick and was able to break free of Omen with a lariat. Moses tagged in and took out anyone who stepped into the ring.
Kaun got the tag as Mose slipped to the outside, but he’d miss the rolling senton off the ropes. However in the ring, Kaun nailed a big gutbuster for a two count. Kaun was outnumbered three to one, but after a combination spear, Primal Fear wasted time figuring out who the legal man was. Taylor was taken down on the outside, but Moses caught a crossbody into a fallaway slam over the barricade. Kaun nailed a top rope jackhammer, and alongside Moses nailed Victory Lap for the win.
Fast paced and hard hitting trios match, which showed the incredible potential of Primal Fear. They were able to take out Shane Taylor, but once again S.O.S proved their skill and closed this match out. The trios style was never a great fit for ROH, but they’re building up a strong division right now, which is better late than never. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
