The last time we saw NXT Tag Team Champions MSK, they were on the losing end of a six man tag team match against Legado Del Fantasma. In that match, KUSHIDA was the one to take the fall, but MSK were handed their first loss in NXT. Tonight, they look to get back to their winning ways as they take on former NXT Tag Team Champions and veterans of the ring, Breezango in this non-title match.
The Referee Steals The Show
Breeze would start up with Lee, and get a quick arm drag before taunting in the corner. Lee rushed into a snapmare, but hit a shoulder tackle before showing his agility to Breeze. He’d look for a suplex, but Breeze countered before both men looked for a superkick. Fandango & Carter got tags, and Fandango grabbed wrist control before Carter slipped out.
Carter was able to nail a dropkick before mocking Fandango’s dancing, before making him run the ropes. Breeze tagged in before Fandango ran into him. Next, Breeze ran the ropes, and instead of running down the referee (Darryl Sharma) by accident, Sharma actually leapfrogged over Breeze, who instead ran into a dropkick from Carter! These NXT referees are learning how to be ready for chaotic action, that must be taught in the PC now.
MSK & Breezango Pick The Pace Up
After a commercial break, the fun and games were over as Fandango nailed an armdrag into the corner before hitting a Falcon Arrow. Breeze would tag in and look for a slingshot, before Lee hit a headbutt on Fandango and got Carter into the ring. MSK cut Breeze down with kicks before hitting Hot Hot Heat, but Fandango broke the pinfall up.
Breeze nailed some supermodel kicks, and was able to get the tag into Fandango. Carter would block The Last Dance by hitting a jumping knee strike on Fandango, sending him to the outside of the ring. A moonsault onto both opponents did some serious damage, before Lee was tagged in and hit a super dropkick. Breeze would be hit with End Transmission, and this one was over.
MSK have been the shot in the arm the NXT Tag Team division needed. They’ve been having nothing but great matches since showing up, and proving that they might be the champions for a long time. Breezango showed they are the crafty veterans of the division, but are still on a losing streak. Something will have to change, but once they find what’s not working, they’ll be fine. They showed they’re better than ever in this one. Match Rating: 2.75/5 (** 3/4)
After the match, a frustrated Breezango would shake the hands of MSK before stopping for just a moment. They wouldn’t crack now, but you have to imagine they are starting to reach their limit. One or two more losses to teams newer than them in NXT, and that could be all they have left. Will Breezango turn heel soon to get back on track?
