Kay Lee Ray might have had her record setting reign in NXT UK padded out by the brands shutdown, but no one can deny that she’s been a fighting champion since her return. Tonight, she has a chance to figure out who she is facing next, as five of the top ladies in NXT UK go to war in the brand’s first ever gauntlet match! Emilia McKenzie, Xia Brookside, Dani Luna, Jinny and Isla Dawn were set to be the five ladies involved, but Brookside was taken out by Amale last week and was not cleared to compete.
Emilia McKenzie Starts With Isla Dawn
Kicking off where their last singles meeting left off, Dawn & McKenzie would grapple around the ropes before going to the middle of the ring. McKenzie would take a knee to the stomach, before hitting a spinning neckbreaker for a two count.
Dawn got right back into it by driving McKenzie head first into the turnbuckle and nailing some aggressive kicks to the head. A double knee drop got a two count, before McKenzie fired back with an enzuguri. She’d dodge a charge into the corner before coming off the top rope with a spear for a two count.
Dawn nailed a kick to the head before getting McKenzie with a Half & Half Suplex, ending this portion of the match. She really is proving to be an issue for McKenzie, now having two back to back pinfalls over her. Next out was Dani Luna of Subculture, who wasted no time nailing a pump kick and some suplexes.
Luna would get a two count on Dawn, but kept the pressure on with a hard lariat. A fallaway slam and exploder suplex would still not be enough to put Dawn away, who would dodge a charge into the corner and roll up Luna for the second win of the match.
Next in was a surprise of Meiko Satomura, taking the place of the hurt Xia Brookside. Dawn would recognize the music and suddenly get worried as Satomura hit the ring. She’d nail a quick dropkick to send Satomura to the floor before sending her into the barricade. Dawn just remained aggressive, before Satomura fired up and got Dawn with the Pele Kick for the two count.
The Final Boss Meiko Satomura Is Here
Satomura would be rocked by a hard kick from Dawn, before being dropped with two high angle backdrop drivers and running double knees to get a two count. Another running kick was followed by a running knee drop, but Satomura dodged and got the cartwheel knee strike. She’d follow up with a submission that she shifted into a pinfall, finally taking Dawn out of this match.
Out last was Jinny, and they’d take a second before getting into it. Jinny was able to take Satomura down to the mat, but would be countered. Satomura would end up back in a front headlock. Jinny was showing her technical skills, but Satomura was able to stay in the fight and take control before ending up in a tight headscissor hold.
Satomura was able to break free and get a deathlock applied, but Jinny countered with a snap suplex on the mat and floated into a two count. Back to their feet, Satomura was able to chop Jinny down with a running wheel kick, before applying an STF and making Jinny crawl to the ropes. Jinny used the ropes as a weapon before just driving Satomura face first into the mat.
Satomura had to let a Death Valley Bomb go after Joesph Conners got involved. Jinny got dropped all the same, and one Scorpio Rising Later, this was done. Meiko Satomura has earned a second chance at the NXT UK Women’s Championship. Will she win it this time around? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
