NXT UK management might as well just give Noam Dar proper match making powers, because whenever he gets guests on for Supernova Sessions, we end up with a match the next week. This time however, his friend Sha Samuels was the one making the match, and that was Noam Dar vs. Nathan Frazer under British Rounds rules! Frazer has claimed that he came to NXT UK to learn the british style, and will have a chance to show that off tonight.
Nathan Frazer Takes An Early Lead
They’d start the first round by feeling each other out, throwing some testing strikes and getting into some chain wrestling in the middle of the ring. Dar would show his better technical skills, but Frazer showed his uncanny agility which was a fine counter. They showed that they were equally matched as the round came to an end.
After the bell, Dar nailed a cheap shot. Starting round two, Dar went right for a takedown, before Frazer countered into a pinfall. Dar kicked out but took a running forearm, before Frazer got the first fall of the match off a small package. Now, Dar has to fight from underneath, as one more mistake could end this one.
Dar would take a dropkick as the third round started, before Frazer got a two count off a running shooting star press. Sha Samuels made his way to ringside to get in the corner of Dar, but also served to distract Frazer. Dar got a kick to the leg of Frazer as he took to the second rope, getting a two count.
Some well placed strikes from Dar would look to pick Frazer apart, but he’d manage to set up the Final Cut off the springboard moonsault. Samuels distracted Frazer on the top rope, and it was enough to prevent the frog splash from potentially ending the match. He’d be ready to launch, as round three ended.
Sha Samuels Comes To The Aid Of Noam Dar
Frazer nailed a shotgun dropkick as soon as the fourth round started, but couldn’t quite get the Frog Splash to land. Dar nailed a spinning back elbow, and was able to get a two count. Frazer would counter the Nova Roller into a pinfall attempt, getting a near fall. He’d look for the Final Cut again, but Dar was able to counter into the Champagne Superknee Bar in the middle of the ring. Frazer had no choice but to tap out, and that brought this one to 1-1.
Round five started with a trade of forearm strikes and chops, before Dar punched Frazer in the jaw. Dar looked for the kneebar, but Frazer was able to counter into a pinfall attempt for the two. Frazer ended up in a pinfall from Dar, before planting him into the mat with a spinning brainbuster.
A kick to the knee stunned Frazer, before he’d slip to the apron and look for a springboard. He’d have to fight Samuels off, and miss Dar on the dive. One Nova Roller later, and this one was over. Frazer won’t be happy about this loss, but Dar will happily take the tainted win.
Another excellent British Rounds match in NXT UK, showing the unique flair this show always needed. Dar & Frazer did great here, with Dar finally hitting his stride as a hateable heel in NXT UK. Frazer is getting somewhere as an all around grappler, but is still a ways off yet. Great drama and action here, with a solid story told. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** 3/4)
