Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Live Results!
I’m your host, CP Bialois, and tonight we’re set for the Go Home episode for WrestleMania Backlash this Sunday.
It should be an interesting night as matches are finalized and the hype will build for Cesaro to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship, as well as the next chapter in the conflicted life of Jimmy Uso.
WWE Smackdown Live Results will be back and ready to kick things off at the 8 p.m. EST start time, so we’ll see you all then!
Jimmy Uso interrupted a Roman Reigns approved rant/promo and after mocking Reigns, Jimmy accepted his challenge to challenge Cesaro tonight and Cesaro accepted.
Women’s Tag Team Championship – Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (c) w/Reginald vs. Tamina and Natalya
This started out fast with Jax attacking Tamina, but Tamina and Natalya turned it around before Jax Samoan Dropped Tamina into the barricade and Natalya kicked out of a running knee as we headed to commercial.
The match was rough, but Tamina and Natalya won after Tamina hit Jax with a Superfly Splsh to become new Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Apollo Crews awarded Commander Azeez the Nigerian Medal of Honor for his service, and Big E, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens took turns interrupting it.
Owens hit Big E and Crews with superkicks and a stunner to Zayn, but Big E hit him with a Big ending to control the ring. Could we get a fatal fourway at Backlash?
Rey Mysterio w/Dominik Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler w/Robert Roode
Ziggler started off with the advantage by outthinking and out muscling Rey, but Rey flipped him through the ropes and his a baseball slide splash as we headed to commercial.
Ziggler dominated the match, but Rey won with another small package rollup for the win. Two weeks in a row, we’re sensing a trend.
Bianca Belair and Bayley exchanged with with Bayley appearing on the titantron.
It was similar to the rest of their banters, but this time Belair told her Bayley was jealous because the Bella twins rolled her down the ramp while she main evented.
Bayley told her looking at Belair is like looking in a mirror at her own past, and it doesn’t end well and she’ll end Belair for good at Backlash.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. King Corbin
This only lasted a couple of minutes before Corbin used Nakamura’s armbar triangle against him by pinning the King of Strong Style.
Nakamura attacked him after the bell and claimed Corbin’s crown.
Aleister Black shared another chapter of his life with us, saying we’re born worthless and need to prove ourselves through trials by fire.
He said he can’t help us because we’re not taking part, because we’re only spectators.
Cesaro vs. Jimmy Uso
Cesaro started out fast, but Jimmy faked a leg injury to get the upper hand on Cesaro and hit a suicide dive to the floor as we headed to commercial.
This was a solid match, so of course Roman Reigns had to interfere to give Cesaro the win via DQ.
While Jimmy tried to walk away in disgust and Reigns argued with him on the floor, Jey Uso attacked.
In the end, Cesaro fought them all off and hit two Neutralizers on Jey while telling Reigns this will be him on Sunday and demanding him to do something.
This was pretty much a copy and paste episode from last week, and we’re not really surprised as they’re heading into a PPV and their effort the last couple of weeks creatively have been lacking.
What did you think of it? Let us know in the comments below, and thank you for joining WWE Smackdown Live Results. We had a great time hanging with you and can’t wait for next week.
See you all then!
