In two weeks on a Saturday Night Dynamite, Kenny Omega will defend the AEW World Championship against Jungle Boy. However, Don Callis feels there is a conspiracy to get the championship off Omega. To them, Jungle Boy is a one hit wonder, just like the band who sings his entrance theme.
Jungle Boy Shows He’s Got Guts As He Takes Kenny Omega Down
Omega is supposed to sell this match like he’s a legitimate threat, but he can’t beat down on him. He sees a bit of a young Kenny Omega in Jungle Boy, someone who will be champion someday. However, he’s missing one thing. He’s got everything but the guts to get in the ring with them. However, Jungle Boy would look to disprove this as he hit the ring.
Omega would say that Jungle Boy isn’t a promo guy, and has nothing to say now that he’s in front of the champion, he won’t do anything. If he’s got something to say, Omega is gonna give him five seconds. Jungle Boy would just say that Omega talks way too much, before dodging the cheap shot. He’d nearly applied the Snare Trap before Young Bucks made the save.
Lance Archer Demolishes Chandler Hopkins
Lance Archer took Miro to his limits at Double or Nothing in his second attempt at the TNT Championship, but failed once again. However, Archer isn’t wasting time getting back into the mix, as he’s in action tonight on Dynamite. His opponent would try to get the jump on Archer before getting thrown into the ring with a double chokeslam.
Chandler Hopkins would break out of a chokeslam in the ring and look for a moonsault, but was taken out of the sky with a forearm. One Blackout later, and Archer had won. He doesn’t get paid by the hour.
Leyla Hirsch Takes Nyla Rose To The Limit
Last week, Nyla Rose would be the one to interrupt the championship celebration of Britt Maker. The former AEW Women’s World Champion is looking to reclaim her championship, and tonight her climb starts with Leyla Hirsch. Hirsch was bullied by Rose and Vickie Guerrero for being short, and was ready to get into this one.
Rose would take Hirsch down quickly with a lariat, before going for a scoop slam. Hirsch countered into an armbar, but was too close to the ropes. A dropkick sent Hirsch to the outside, but a tope suicida would be caught by Rose. Hirsch was driven into the apron, but would get another armbar on Rose, before being ragdolled into the barricade.
Back in the ring, Rose hit a knee drop for a two count before applying a shoulder claw and hitting an elbow strike to the head. Vickie Guerrero got a slap in, before Rose would bite the hands of Hirsch. A biel throw sent Hirsch to the mat, before she’d fire up and hit some knee strikes in the corner.
Hirsch nailed a release German Suplex and a running knee strike on Rose before nailing the moonsault press for a two count. Armbar was applied, and Rose countered into a one arm powerbomb. Rose set up the diving knee drop after draping Hirsch over the apron, but was countered. Hirsch would be taken down with a top rope Beast Bomb, and it was done.
A solid women’s division match between two heavy hitters. Rose is going to be the next challenger to Baker, and Hirsch will be a star before long. Match Rating: 2/5 (**)
