This coming Wednesday, we see AEW finally say goodbye to Daily’s Place for a little while as they prepare to get back on the road. They had a special Saturday Night episode of Dynamite, which was headlined by Kenny Omega making his fifth defense of the AEW World Championship against Jungle Boy. Following the match, Jungle Boy was about to be attacked further, and was saved by Christian Cage who needed to be saved by Eddie Kingston & Penta El Zero Miedo.
Fans watching on TV didn’t see Kingston & Penta rush the ring, as it happened off the air. They had a shot at The Young Bucks in non-title action this Wednesday, but Kingston wouldn’t not take a chance to cut a promo in front of a hot live crowd. And being Eddie Kingston, he didn’t hold back on taking a direct shot at WWE.
Eddie Kingston Takes Shot At WWE
The promo was posted to Twitter first by Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, and later by AEW themselves as an exclusive. Kingston had the following to say as the crowd went wild.
“That’s what I’m talking about, Because the competition sometimes doesn’t want to hear their fans. Oh, I guess I’m burning another bridge, surprise. Ladies and gentlemen, AEW cares about their fans. Because we are not here just to get ourselves a paycheck. We’re here every week with you people, without you people and we come out here and we bust our asses. We love professional wrestling!”
He’d go on to say that you won’t find action like the main event anywhere in WWE.
“You saw a match between Kenny Omega and my dude, Jungle Boy, that you will not see on the other channel. You will not see legends who are respected on the other channel. You will not see people like me and my best friend Penta on the other channel. And you will not see the heart that everybody in that locker room has on the other channel. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m was supposed to send you home happy, but I’m speaking from my heart. The bottom line is this: We are AEW. We will see you Wednesday, and we want to hear you!”
Many Are Frustrated With WWE’s Recent Actions
While Kingston has always been a bit of an outlaw, this comes at a time when this type of speech will resonate with fans. WWE has just gotten through another mass firing from their roster, including long time fan favorites in Tyler Breeze & Fandango, alongside twelve others. This wouldn’t have been bad if it wasn’t the third time they’ve made massive cuts this year.
WWE in recent years has not done a great job building up a connection with their fans, and while that might change as they get back on the road? It won’t be easy. Do you think that Kingston is right about AEW caring more about the fans than WWE? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
