During the Thunderdome era of WWE, we’ve seen a lot of talent really put the work in. One of these names is Kevin Owens. From taking on Seth Rollins in the WWE Performance Center at Wrestlemania 36 and still throwing himself off the Wrestlemania sign, to helping define the WWE Universal Title reign of Roman Reigns, Owens has been busy.
As of late, Owens has found himself in familiar waters as he picked up his long time feud with Sami Zayn, with them finally getting a singles match at Wrestlemania earlier this year. Both men were involved in the Intercontinental Championship hunt, but following Hell in a Cell? We might not be seeing Kevin Owens again for a little while.
Kevin Owens Is Taking Time Off From WWE, But Will Be Back Soon
At Hell in a Cell, Owens & Zayn played some of their greatest hits for the fans watching around the world as they had their 17th one on one match in WWE. Zayn was able to pick up the win, and despite Owens selling an attack from Commander Azeez, the bodyguard of WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews, they were able to have a solid match.
Following the match, Kevin Owens would take to Twitter to give fans an update on what comes next for him. “I fought like hell. Now, I need a little break. I’ll be back soon. Thank you, guys.” It’s currently unclear if Owens suffered an injury prior to or during Hell in a Cell, but either way he intends to take some time off.
Getting To Return Infront Of Actual Fans
Aside from getting to spend some quality time with his family, there is another benefit for Owens taking time off right now. WWE is currently gearing up to get back on the road, and that will mean leaving the WWE Thunderdome behind. While NXT & 205 Live have actual fans in the Capitol Wrestling Center, Smackdown is still held in the Thunderdome.
Aside from Wrestlemania 37, it’s been nearly 19 months since Kevin Owens got to wrestle in front of an actual crowd. So when he makes his return to WWE, we might see him take a moment to soak in the reaction of an actual crowd before doing what he does best.
