We’ve already seen Demonic Flamita & Brian Johson advance in Survival of The Fittest, and it’s time to see the third name. This one is a rematch of a recent ROH TV match where Eli Isom & Dak Draper went to a time limit draw, and when they asked for a restart Dalton Castle came to the ring and kicked both men low. Tonight they get their restart, and with higher stakes than their last encounter. Isom has been on fire since returning to ROH, and Draper is one of the biggest men on the roster, making this one a hard one to call.
Former World Champion Dalton Castle Is Just Here To Watch This Match
Before this one could start, Dalton Castle would once again make his way to the ring, with his new theme sounding a scary amount like Radio Gaga by Queen. He’d be questioned as to what he’s doing here, but he’s just here to watch.
Draper got action started with a boot to the midsection, before Isom sent him outside and nailed a perfect dive to the outside. Back in the ring, Isom hit some forearm shots in the corner before being shoved away. Draper countered a sunset flip and ripped Isom up to his feet, but Isom went for an enziguri. A springboard sunset flip got a two count, before a dropkick sent Draper to the outside.
Isom set up a Golden Triangle moonsault, but was distracted by Castle and his Boys. Draper took advantage and set up a superplex from the apron into the ring for a two count. Isom would be hit with some stomps and grounded punches by Draper, before getting distracted by Castle. Draper would keep the advantage with a knee drop and a major lariat, before we’d go to commercial break.
Draper kept control of the match through the break, and hit a springboard axe handle for a two count when we got back to action. Isom was on the ropes, and a high crossbody from Draper sent both men crashing to the outside. It was an oddly flashy move for Draper, perhaps the cheering from Castle was finally getting to him.
Dak Draper Impressed Dalton Castle, But Eli Isom Wins The Match
However, Isom would be thrown at Dalton Castle and his boys, which he called amazing! Castle wanted to see Draper finish him, and Draper applied a body lock in the ring, but rolled too close to the ropes. He used all of the five count before allowing a clean break before getting a two count.
Isom would trip Draper into a school boy for a two count before looking for The Promise Brainbuster, but Draper blocked into an inside cradle. Draper would look for the German Suplex but Isom blocked. Some heavy strikes and a Doctor Bomb got a two count, before Draper looked for Mile High Muffler and was countered.
Isom would monkey flip Draper, before hitting a knee facebuster and a sidewinder suplex for a two count. He’d look for The Promise again, but took a Denver Stampede powerslam instead. Draper would look for the Magnum Drop, but with the cheers of Castle driving him on, he’d go up top. Castle at this point would leave, and Isom took advantage and nail The Promise for the win.
Isom & Draper have top level chemistry, and despite Dalton Castle trolling around at ringside, this was a fun back and forth match. It’s undeniable that Isom is a star for ROH, and he’s a great pick for Survival of The Fittest. Match Rating: 3/5 ()
