When Samoa Joe was released from WWE earlier this year, everyone was excited to see him return to the ring either in an old home like ROH or Impact Wrestling, or even get a fancy new “Samoa Joe Is All Elite” graphic. However, now he’s back in WWE as part of the NXT brand. He’s currently just an enforcer for NXT GM William Regal, and is looking to calm the chaos. However, he will be getting into the ring again if he gets his way.
Samoa Joe Did Take Over One Job From William Regal
While speaking to Ryan Satin on Out of Character podcast, Samoa Joe would discuss his new role in NXT and give his thoughts on an in-ring return. In addition to his on-screen role, he is taking over another role that William Regal used to do, just not being the GM of NXT. Joe is now a talent scout for WWE.
“I always try to keep a pulse on the industry in general, whether it be through me looking or my network contacts and people I know. Outside of the Indie wrestling world, in the combat sports world and a lot of the athletic world. Just heavy connections. It was a really nice fit. I’m looking forward to giving an opportunity to a lot of people that maybe wouldn’t get a look.”
Joe Absolutely Wants To Return To The Ring
When asked about a return to the ring, Joe was short and sweet. “Absolutely. We’ll just say yes and leave it at that.” Since returning to NXT, he’s already choked Adam Cole out, and has had intense staredowns with Pete Dunne & Karrion Kross. It’s clear they plan to keep a fire lit for a return to the ring, and that we can expect to see it down the line.
There are a lot of great matches waiting for a Samoa Joe return in NXT, where is treated like a legend. We might not get him in the ring weekly, but a part time run seems like it’s for sure something fans can look forward to.
