The first round of the fight did not have much action beyond some sporadic exchanges of punches. Initially Rozentruik looked to maintain control of the center of the octagon. He gradually drove Sakai against the mesh and took his opportunity to end the contest.
Jairzinho connected with an effective 1-2 that caught Augusto trying to open distance. Sakai went down shaken and Rozenstruik jumped on him to end the fight. The referee’s quick intervention prevented the Brazilian from suffering further damage, or perhaps even surviving the round.

Jairzinho looks to find consistency and get back in the win column. The Suriname native is 2-2 in his last four fights and improves his UFC record to 6-2. Sakai, meanwhile, is coming off his second consecutive loss, something that has never happened in his career.
After the event, Rozenstruik spoke about his victory and emphasized his desire to return to competition soon. Jairzinho is looking to move up the rankings and get closer to a title fight.
“You have to be careful because this is the heavyweight division and it can be over with any punch. As soon as I connected I knew the fight was over. I’m not hurt, I want to come back fast, in about two or three months. I want to face anyone above me in the rankings, I don’t care what their style is.”
