Things were starting to look up for Ever-Rise members Matt Martel & Chase Parker in WWE NXT. After long serving an enhancement talent role on 205 Live, they were getting a chance to really set their roots as a comedy midcard act. From running the pre-pre-show to NXT Takeover: In Your House, to getting punched out by NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez, Ever-Rise was starting to prove they did in fact, rule.
WWE had given them space on their YouTube channel for Ever-Rise Live and everything! Then one day after them getting that YouTube series, WWE has released them from their contracts in their latest cost cutting spree.
Continuing a Trend Of Seemingly Poor Communication Within WWE
This comes on the same day when 205 Live mainstay Ariya Daivari was released, just hours ahead of his taped match with Ikeman Jiro on 205 Live. Daivari also recently had his first T-Shirt launched on WWEShop shortly before. There is a growing trend of WWE seemingly having poor communications when it comes to their recent hasty releases.
Other examples include still running ads containing Braun Strowman hyping up fans getting to see superstars like him on the road, or releasing Aleister Black mid-storyline with a new shirt up for pre-order. WWE will continue to make moves like this as well. This is what happens when a company grows too large and wide, they will tend to get disorganized. Add in that they recently let go a lot of backstage employees who mainly worked in their digital department, and suddenly things make some more sense in this regard.
Ever-Rise Will Be Fine
Back to the topic of Ever-Rise however, they will more than likely be fine. These are two veterans of the independants, with their time in WWE just being another part of their career at the end of the day. It sucks to see them have the rug pulled from underneath just as their career was looking to go in a decent direction, but they’ve always been able to find a way.
We’ve rarely seen them showcased in WWE, but they are one of the better tag teams in terms of chemistry, having been teaming for nearly 20 years together. Their time in WWE helped to get more eyes on them than ever before, and could only serve to help them as they enter the next stage of their career. Now with more fans behind them, what do you think is next for Ever-Rise? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
