Last week to close out NXT, Diamond Mine made their debut as they beat KUSHIDA into the mat following a hard fought main event against Kyle O’Reilly. Roderick Strong, Tyler Rust, Malcolm Bivens, and Hideki Suzuki make up the group, and after such a major debut? We can expect to hear more about who they are and what their mission is tonight on NXT.
Roderick Strong Tears Through Asher Hale
But first things first, Strong is back in the ring. He’s facing off with 205 Live’s Asher Hale, and wasted no time getting him onto the mat. Hale got a kick to the midsection of Strong which was blocked, but he was able to shift into an ankle lock. Strong would break free and hit a classic backbreaker, before laying in some chops in the corner of the ring.
Hale would be thrown around with some double underhook suplexes, before being dropped with a jumping knee strike to the jaw. Not going for his usual finisher of End Of Heartache, Strong instead applied a Butterfly Lock on the mat and forced Hale to submit. Strong hasn’t looked this good in a while. After the match, Bivens took to the microphone and said “Diamond Mine is open for business, and this is just the beginning, baby.”
Cameron Grimes Had No Time To Celebrate
At NXT Takeover: In Your House, Cameron Grimes gave his all in an attempt to become the next Million Dollar Champion. His dreams came crashing down as LA Knight shoved him off a ladder and claimed the belt for his own. Knight would then punch Ted DiBiase out, and Grimes came to his aid. Tonight, Grimes looks to get his career back on track.
Sterling got punched out by Grimes last week after talking smack about DiBiase, and this week would look to do the same in the ring, before being taken to the outside with a hurricanrana. Grimes would look for a PK off the apron, only to have his foot caught and thrown face first.
Sterling hit a unique springboard moonsault to the outside, before a twisting body press in the ring. Grimes would take a kick to the back of the head in the corner, before Sterling went for a Shooting Star Press. Sterling missed, and Grimes nailed the Cave In for the win.
The air would be sucked out of the arena as LA Knight made his way to the ring, but Grimes would get a microphone to bring things back. Grimes wanted to carry on the legacy of the Million Dollar Man, while Knight just wanted some bling. He’d call him out for a title match next week, but Knight refused… until he offered Grimes a challenge. If Grimes loses, he’s the butler of Knight.
Will Grimes get back at LA Knight? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
