As WWE prepares to leave the Thunderdome behind, they have been using the closed doors nature to get some talent in front of the eyes of main roster officials. We’ve seen the NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed, as well as the NXT Champion Karrion Kross. However last Friday Night, there were two new names getting looked at as potential additions to the women’s division.
Shotzi Blackheart & Scarlett Wrestled A Dark Match
While it was always known that Scarlett would get a tryout, as she’s a major part of what makes Karrion Kross a star. She’s a major part of his entrance, and can also cover his lacking mic skills. After fans got a look at Kross without Scarlett on Main Event, it’s almost universally agreed that he needs her.
However, it was a surprise to see that her dark match was a loss to a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion. Scarlett took on Shotzi Blackheart, who has been a fan favorite in NXT due to her unrelenting punk rock aesthetic and entrance which includes riding to the ring in a tank. Blackheart has mostly been teaming with Ember Moon in the NXT Women’s Tag Team division, and would defeat Scarlett in their match.
Karrion Kross Wins Another Dark Match
Karrion Kross was also in action once again in a dark match. He defeated Slapjack in a non-title match, something likely less competitive than recent matches with Dolph Ziggler & Shelton Benjamin. Kross is on the fast track to the main roster, and could be soon dropping the NXT Championship to Johnny Gargano. Gargano recently turned face once again, and became a target of Kross.
This is the first time we’ve seen Slapjack since the breakup of Retribution, when he was quietly moved to Smackdown. We could see him return to his old name of Shane Thorne in the WWE draft, as the Slapjack character wasn’t even good to begin with, let alone without the rest of Retribution. He was moved over with Reckoning, better known as Mia Yim, who also hasn’t been seen.
