It’s time for Round Two between Joe Coffey & Rampage Brown. Last time they clashed, Brown was able to exploit an injury to the hand of Coffey to get the win, and earned a shot at NXT UK Champion WALTER in the process. Now, they’re set to clash again in what should be an incredible main event. These are two of the heaviest hitters in all of WWE, while also being agile and technically sound, defining why the UK indie scene was so hot for years.
Joe Coffey Is A Man With A Plan
These two heavyweights would try a few lockups in the middle of the ring, and Coffey would be able to shove Rampage to the ropes. Rampage took a headlock, and would be shoved off. Both men ran the ropes, and Coffey caught Rampage with a crossbody to target the hurt ribs. Fellow Gallus member Wolfgang hurt the ribs of Rampage during a recent match, and Coffey has taken notice.
They’d brawl to the apron, where Rampage missed a big boot and got the steel ring post instead. Coffey yanked Rampage down and slammed him into the barricade. Back in the ring, Rampage attacked the hand of Coffey, only to take some punches to the ribs and get flapjacked onto the top rope, tumbling to the outside.
Coffey would pull Rampage in and stay on the ribs of Rampage, slowly but surely taking him out. A waistlock was applied, but Rampage broke out by driving Coffey backwards into the corner. Coffey rushed right back in with a headbutt to the ribs before a Belly to Belly suplex. He’d spring off the top rope with a Vader Bomb, getting a two count.
Rampage Brown Fails To Make The Comeback
Rampage would look to get back up and into the fight, but he’d be caught on the top rope. He’d fight off the superplex attempt with a headbutt, before diving off the top with a headbutt. Both men traded forearm blows to the jaw from their knees, but a single boot to the ribs took Rampage back down.
Coffey would go for the springboard crossbody out of the corner, and Rampage was able to dodge, leading to Coffey just hitting the mat and hurting his knee. Rampage was taken out of the ring with a crossbody which also sent Coffey tumbling, and it was a struggle for either man to make the ten count. Coffey was first in and broke the count, before they’d just charge at each other on the outside.
A Glasgow Sendoff into the ring steps took Rampage down, and Coffey sent him back into the ring to catch him with a diving missile dropkick. He’d look to follow up with a German Suplex, and Rampage broke it and took a headbutt to the back and a splash before it finally landed. Rampage blocked the rolling lariat and hit a backdrop, and had an opening for the Doctor Bomb. Coffey slipped off and hit two Glasgow Sendoff, before the Black Coffey lariat for the win.
This match had a rare quality and level of flow to it. Coffey came in, exploited an injury from bell to bell, and we’d not actually see Rampage make the expected comeback. He’d stay in the fight and look resilient, but Coffey was able to overwhelm him. A very good story told through in-ring action, and has left Coffey looking better than ever. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** 3/4)
