It looks like we’re moving beyond the copy and past show stage and heading into deeper water, and WWE Smackdown Preview couldn’t be happier.
Of course, there’s the potential for both championship matches to end with a DQ or something similar, but we hope not.
Not only is the WWE flashing some gold but we have a bonafide mystery about who attacked Rey Mysterio during his prematch prayer last week?
We doubt it was Dolph Ziggler or Robert Roode as they were in the ring minutes later, so who could it be? Did it have to do with their title defense tonight?
Tag Team Championship – Rey and Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. the Usos
Jimmy Uso’s attempt to pull bis brother Jey Uso away from Roman Reigns will come to a head tonight as they face the Mysterios for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.
Jey didn’t tell Jimmy that he was still with Reigns last week, and we expect that to have a part in their match as Roman Reigns will come down to watch, and in the end Jey will be distracted and cost them the match.
There’s a small possibility that Jey will attack his brother, and that would fall into like with the two of them squaring off at Hell in A Cell as it looks like Reigns won’t have a match. At least, not as yet.
We expect this to create more tension in Reigns’ universe, but it’d be a better angle, in our opinion, to have the Usos win without Reigns’ help and reestablish themselves.
Either way, Reigns will play up how he doesn’t want Jey to be lost in teaming with his brother again. It’ll come down to whether Jey wants Reigns’ approval or to be free with his brother.
Intercontinental Championship – Apollo Crews (c) vs. Kevin Owens with Commander Azeez barred from ringside
After Azeez hit a Nigerian Nail on Owens when he went for the pin following a stunner on Crews, Owens demanded a rematch and Adam Pearce gave it to him.
Pearce went a step further and barred Azeez from ringside.
So, it appears Owens will have a win and a title to add to his collection, right?
We’d love to see him with a championship, but not this time. Crews is an awesome talent and we don’t see him losing the title yet and we expect an awesome match from him to retain it.
This is our early pick for match of the night, and we really hope they’re allowed to just do their thing without any extras thrown in.
A clean win will go a long way in establishing Crews as a serious heel that can handle things without Azeez at his side all of the time.
What do you expect to see tonight, and who do you think attacked Rey Mysterio? Let WWE Smackdown Preview know in the comments below.
