These are exciting times to be a fan of All Elite Wrestling, as they have truly hit the road running. From big shows such as All Out and their New York debut, to even just having proper crowds for Dark, AEW has arguably been better than ever. Tonight, Tony Khan will announce yet another major live event.
Rampage: The First Date Is Coming Soon
Tony Khan would pass the announcement to Tony Shicavone. It would be Rampage: The First Dance in United Center in Chicago, which would prompt a big CM Punk chant from the crowd. Darby Allin would be interviewed and say that many have claimed to be The Best In The World, you need to prove it in AEW.
This is a huge and rather obvious tease to a match between Darby Allin & CM Punk, which would be a major match AEW. CM Punk has been rumored to have signed with AEW for weeks now, and that might be the time and place he finally shows up.
Lance Archer Fights Off Hikule’o
Last week in the main event of Fyter Fest, Lance Archer did what many called impossible when he defeated Jon Moxley for the IWGP United States Championship in a Texas Death Match. However, there is no rest for a champion, and Archer welcomes that. He is always looking for a fight, so when the 6’8” son of Haku, Hikule’o stepped up for the first shot? It was gladly accepted.
These two heavyweights would start off with chokeholds, before Archer kicked Hikule’o into the corner before charging in. Some mounted punches in the corner would be countered into a powerbomb for a two count for Hikule’o. Archer would run into a snap powerslam, before being sent to the outside.
On the outside, King Haku would get involved and show he’s still a badass, applying the Tongan Death Grip and shoving Archer into the barricade. Back in the ring, Archer would look to regain some ground with a big boot to Hikule’o. Archer would lay in some heavy lariats before going Old School with a rope walk but getting a moonsault at the end.
Blackout was set up but Hikule’o was able to resist. He would fail to resist the superplex from Archer, which had the ring shaking but only got two count. Another attempt at The Blackout would drop Hikule’o for the three count.
A solid hoss fight between two very heavy hitters, but was limited due to Hikule’o simply not being that good. Archer did his best with this one, but the next match for Archer is much more exciting. Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** 1/2)
The next challenger for Lance Archer will be the Once in a Century talent, Hiroshi Tanahashi in Japan. Can he defeat The Ace? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
