It’s always great to see wrestlers grow in the craft and ability, and it’s even cooler when they push each other like Cesaro pushes Roman Reigns.
It may seem strange hearing how someone at the top of their game like Reigns needs a push, but we all have moments where we may become comfortable.
So, when someone pops in and forces us where we’re not comfortable being, greatness often happens.
This was a topic when Cesaro talked to givemesport.com (https://www.givemesport.com/1717344-wwe-exclusive-cesaro-talks-taking-roman-reigns-to-his-limit ) about pushing Reigns to his limit. Special thanks to givemesport.com for the following transcript.
Healthy push
“I took Roman to the limit and I don’t think he liked it, so let’s do it again.
“To me what it comes down to at the end of the day is what happens after the bell rings. Even when I’ve wrestled Roman Reigns in the past, I was able to take him to the limit, and maybe to a place where he doesn’t like to be because he’s not usually there. He’s not usually pushed that way, I like to think, and that’s exactly what happened when the bell rang. Whatever his attitude is, it changes. He does what he does, he does what he thinks he has to do. My attitude changed from when I wrestled him before to now. I feel like we all matured, we all changed, we all developed, we all progressed. But at the end of the day, it’s about what happens when that bell rings. To me, that’s what’s important. Like you said [he had] a year great, but so did I, so let’s see what happens.”
It worked as they had a tremendously awesome match at WrestleMania Backlash and it firmly established Cesaro as the main event talent many of us know he is.
It’s definitely in the running for Match of the Year as both told an awesome story leading up to and in the match as Cesaro pushed Roman Reigns.
While Cesaro was hijacked by Seth Rollins to continue their feud afterwards, it doesn’t take away with the new level he and Reigns are on.
With Reigns retaining the Universal Championship and now in a feud with Edge, there’s little room for Cesaro at the moment, but that doesn’t mean he can’t continue stealing the show with Rollins.
Both of them are capable of matching, if not surpassing what Cesaro did with Reigns, and we expect it to continue as Rollins eyes his own shot at the Universal championship.
