On last week’s AEW Dynamite, we had a moment where a fan decided he wanted to charge the ring during MJF and Chris Jericho’s back and forth.
The fan was dealt with as we’d expect between security and the wrestlers in the ring, and it’s yet another testament to why it’s a dumb idea to charge a ring or attack a wrestler.
Yet it’s something that’s happened so many times over the years.
There was one that jumped Roddy Piper while he was heading to the ring, and Piper pounded him into a pulp and continued to head to the ring as security dealt with him.
There’s debate whether the Piper incident was staged or real.
Jim Cornette has stated that he was told and taught to go for the eyes and groin in the event of a riot, meaning the fans would go on the attack if a storyline pushed them to become that furious.
Riling fans up isn’t anything new, nor are fans simply wanting to attack for whatever reason crosses their mind.
Got news for you dipshit, the ring is sacred ground for US, and even if you and a lot of others THINK you can kick the shit out of the Young Bucks, I would have turned you into a tennis racket popsicle, & you're lucky someone there didn't gut you like a fish. And you're blocked. https://t.co/hRRiJH0mOg

Cornette shuts him down
Of course, in this day and age Jim Cornette is the fall guy for just about everything whether he’s really behind it or not.
So, it’s not really a surprise when the fan tweeted Cornette and explained himself.
“@TheJimCornette @GreatBrianLast, how did you like my #AEW debut? I did this for all of us real wrestling fans, wrestling is no longer a safe space for friends to dance around and play dress up. Reality can hit at anytime, did they think it is going to be fucking playtime forever?”
Cornette responded in typical Cornette fashion:
“Got news for you dipsh-t, the ring is sacred ground for US, and even if you and a lot of others THINK you can kick the sh-t out of the Young Bucks, I would have turned you into a tennis racket popsicle, & you’re lucky someone there didn’t gut you like a fish. And you’re blocked.”
Blaming and defending Cornette
Kenny Omega called Cornette and Brian Last out for inciting this with their constant anti-AEW rhetoric and slamming of their product and there was a back and forth between the three as well.
Is it finally time to assume some responsibility and dial the online persona back a bit? Your low IQ man children have evolved from parroting your comments to actually acting out in (attempted) violence.

It’s just another day in the Twitter war between them, but Cornette had a supporter from the AEW locker room in Chris Jericho who hit the nail on the head when he responded to the perpetrator.
Do you really think @TheJimCornette would condone this you fuckin loser? Jimmy would’ve shoved a tennis racket up your ass and smashed your car windows. https://t.co/xAN8GVvNCz

It may not be the popular thing for those that don’t like Cornette, but the only one to blame for this was the guy that tried to run into the ring.
It’s something that happens more than we hear about at concerts and other venues, and we have to be better as fans.
Let’s just sit back and enjoy the show.
