What Is NXT Going To Look Like In The Coming Month?

NXT is going through many changes, and with that comes a lot of worry from fans. The new NXT logo and reports of NXT going backwards and focusing on younger wrestlers and bigger wrestlers, changing back into a more developmental promotion. Vince and Kevin Dunn took over from Triple H and Shawn Michaels, which started the Twitter trend; #RIPNXT. These are all the current changes reported to be happening in NXT soon but really, what does this mean for the NXT brand? Let’s take a little dive into this and see what NXT will look like soon.

A younger look?

The iconic look of NXT has become what makes it such a beloved brand. It had a hardcore feel to that look inspired by Triple H’s love for heavy rock music like motorhead. All of the theme music had the same feel to it. It felt like it was a brand that stood out, and it wasn’t trying to fit in. It had an edge to it with set pieces and songs you wouldn’t hear on Raw or Smackdown. Now that the new logo is here with different coloured paint splashes. It seems like this is a way to shoehorn a new young theme to it. There is no doubt that the old school set pieces will disappear, and more pop music will be the new themes on all PPVs. The Takeover tagline may also change to something a bit more gimmicky. The edge will soon disappear into a plain smooth shape of similarity.

Last-minute booking

Last-minute booking happens in all promotions. Things happen and change. But looking at current reports of Raw being written hours before it goes live. It’s likely this will happen in NXT. Long time stories and feuds will start to resolve into repetitive feuds that just won’t die. We will not see things like DIY dissolving into years of feuding. Instead, we will see last-minute match changes that don’t make much sense.

Name changes and bad gimmicks

Lastly, we have the dreaded name changes that we have seen in both Smackdown and Raw. We will have many one named wrestlers, a lot of them losing their last name, making their name easier to chant, rather than Pete Dune. We will get Pete instead of Tommsa Ciampa we will get Ciampa. It’s also likely that we will get gimmick changes like Grimes’ gimmick will change into something terrible rather than the slow-burning story we have seen through the past months. We will see things like Shorty G and Happy Corbin.

All these things are what make Raw and Smackdown hard to watch sometimes and know that these are most likely to come to NXT. This is why #RIPNXT is trending, and fans of NXT are so worried about what is next for the black and gold brand.
