Right now, the demise of Ring of Honor feels all too real. Final Battle is slowly arriving, and despite being potentially the final show in their history – hype is at an all time low. There are a lot of mixed emotions backstage, especially with their most recent set of TV tapings. During these tapings, Dalton Castle would win the ROH World TV Championship from Dragon Lee, but ultimately felt the tapings weren’t exactly needed.
Dalton Castle Felt Final Tapings Were Meaningless
While speaking on The Gentlemen’s Club’s Night Cruisin’ Podcast, Castle would discuss the mood that was around for the recent TV tapings. He’s not mad at Ring of Honor for cutting his contract, simply upset that something he loved is dying. Full quote is as follows.
“I’ve only got two months left on my contract before I am completely fired. Ring Of Honor is giving us all the boot at the end of the year. It all feels meaningless actually. We just did a recording, like, three days ago and it was weird because we showed up knowing our jobs are ending… I’m not mad at [Ring Of Honor. Yes, maybe there are some decisions along the way when you look back in hindsight that probably led to this moment. But also, they’ve given me so much. I’ve always had such a great time and I’m still wrestling. I’m not mad. I’m sad. I’m sad to see something that I’ve loved for so long end.”
Could Castle Show Up At Future Shows?
Castle is a former Ring of Honor World Champion, and has been with the company since 2013. Right now the plan in ROH is to shut down for the first quarter of 2022. They will restructure and go forward by bringing in major indy names to run supershows. Names like Jonathan Gresham will be remaining loyal and likely to come back. Others like Jay Lethal have moved on.
With Castle having spent most of his career in Ring of Honor, there is a good chance he is someone who sticks around and sees what could be done in 2022. He’s made little hints towards his future, but it’s hard to see him going to WWE or AEW, but Impact Wrestling could use a veteran with his skillset well.
