Brian Cox Recalls Working With Brad Pitt On ‘Troy’ -‘I’m Straight, But I Just Thought, Wow!’

Brian Cox had the experience of working with Brad Pitt on the set of Troy  (2004), but it was not his acting skills that only impressed him.

There is no denying that Brad has been a heart-throb for many women across the world throughout the years. While he is not getting any younger, the very fact of the matter is that he has become one of Hollywood’s most iconic sex symbols. 

And during the course of filming, Brian understood why Brad had attracted the attention of so many people throughout his career.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, Brian said: “I remember at one point,” he said, “just kind of being agog at Brad ’cause, you know, he’d never been in costumes like that.

“Brad walked on and my jaw was down because he was so stunningly beautiful…”I mean, I’m straight, but I just thought, ‘Wow!”

Although Brian may have had a pleasant experience, Brad did not feel the same way when it came to the actual movie itself.

He has spoken on how he felt that he did not do the storyline justice, as there was more emphasis being placed on how he came across on screen as opposed to the actual substance.

And that is something that he regrets to this day, but it has allowed him to consider more carefully the roles that he would be taking on going forward.

In a prior interview with The New York Times Magazine, Brad remarked: “It wasn’t painful, but I realized that the way that movie was being told was not how I wanted it to be. I made my own mistakes in it.

“Troy became a commercial kind of thing.” And yet, for Brian, that was not what stuck in his mind. The actual experience of working with Brad outweighed any of the negative experiences he may have had on the set.

Brian’s following comments confirmed as much: “What chance does one have sharing the screen with this beautiful, beautiful man?” It is not often that you get to work with Brad, and that is something that Brian is all too aware of.
