Following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s joint decision to stick with podcast platform—Spotify, there has been a lot of speculations about the royal couple choosing to stick with Spotify majorly for financial reasons.
Harry and Meghan signed a deal with Spotify in 2020 following their exit from the Royal Family. This deal entails them creating and releasing content on the platform while they get paid.

However recently, Spotify has come under fire due to their decision to support Joe Rogan even when allegations were raised against him for spreading misleading content about the Coronavirus vaccine on his platform. Neil Young and Joni Mitchell had pulled their music catalogues from Spotify in response to their decisions to back Joe Rogan.

Spotify then released a statement, although not directly addressing the issue with Joe Rogan, they claimed to have policies in place that help them remove misleading content from the platform and have taken down more than 20,000 episodes related to Coronavirus since the pandemic started.
Just last month, Rogan interviewed Dr. Robert Malone on his podcast; an infectious disease specialist who had been banned from Twitter for spreading false COVID information. On this issue and more, Spotify has been silent.
Concerning this issue that appears to be a big one, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have expressed concerns “Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all too real consequences of Covid-19 misinformation on its platform.”
The Royal couple stated that even with the issues, they “look to Spotify to meet this moment and they are committed to continuing their work together as it does.” This is not what the public had expected from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The public expects that, as they have seen Young and Joni Mitchell do, the Royal Couple stand their ground in ensuring that misinforming the public isn’t tolerated. It is speculated that, unlike Neil Young and Mitchell, the only reason why Meghan and Harry are sticking with the platform is for money.
