’90 Day Fiancé’ Spoilers: Ariela Weinberg Reveals Why She Did Not Take Her Husband, Biniyam Shibre’s Last Name
The TLC star shared, “I would never want to adopt someone else’s name. I am a representation of my family lineage… I feel like I would be erasing a part of myself. Thoughts?”. She kept her surname of Weinberg because she still wanted to feel close to her family’s lineage and name.
Ariela’s poll also showed that 70% of her followers did change their last name to their husband’s, 25 percent of her followers did not, while 5 percent said that both they and their husband hyphenated their last names. Even though Ariela might have been in the minority, she clearly feels strongly about the topic.
Ariela Weinberg has previously told viewers how important her family’s culture is to her, especially her Jewish heritage. Viewers will recall that she always wanted Avi to be raised Jewish, which caused conflict between her and Biniyam, whois a Christian. She eventually agreed to have their son baptized as a Christian if they could get married in a traditional Jewish ceremony, which they later did in America.
Since Weinberg is a common Jewish last name, Ariela’s reason for keeping it is understandable. Viewers didn’t think their union would last, but it seems the duo are actually making it work despite the challenges. Unlike when they were in Ethiopia, things seem to have improved since the duo relocated to America. They now seem to have a better relationship, with Ariela supporting her husband in his MMA career.
