Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has reportedly come to an agreement that will allow him to avoid jail time following his recent case of driving under influence.
Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers Agrees To A Plea Deal Following His DUI Arrest And Enters Counselling
According to reports, Jonathan had been arrested at the back end of 2020 after he had crashed his vehicle in Malibu.
But after having managed to come to an agreement, Jonathan has agreed to undertake a period of rehabilitation in order to make sure that something like this does not happen again in the future.
A source told TMZ the following: “The actor copped a plea deal and was sentenced to 1-year summary probation. He’ll pay a $500 fine and must complete an alcohol ed and counseling program.”
While that is significant, it still does not detract away from the fact that Jonathan has struggled with substance abuse throughout his life. In 2007, the actor entered rehab to tackle his alcohol problems.
And yet, that did not seem to help matters. Just two years later, he had allegedly been arrested after assaulting an employee in Paris at an airline, as he was drunk.
Just a year later, he was also allegedly arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport for using abusive/racist language. And based on his track record, it is clear that he needs to get his life in order to prevent things from spiraling out of control.
After all, having a successful movie career that has seen him appear in the ‘Mission Impossible’ franchise is not something to throw away lightly. And this was shown in the comments that followed on social media.
A large proportion of the fans felt that this had to be a wake-up call for Jonathan to get his life together. There were only so many times that he could be let off before something major happened.
One person wrote: “I love the personal life section of the Wikipedia page for Jonathan Rhys Meyers because it’s just him getting kicked out of airports for being drunk over and over again, like dude stop going to airports.”
Time will tell whether Jonathan has learnt his lessons from this. Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
