Model Tess Holliday Opens Up On Her Struggles With Her Body-‘Been Almost Debilitating’
Naturally, in a profession such as modelling, there is an expectation of being super thin. While that has changed in recent years, with the introduction of plus-size models, there is no denying that the biggest models in the world are not plus-size.
And yet, for Tess, it was not the career aspect that got her down. It was the perception that she had of her body, which had ultimately begun to take its toll. In a post to her fans on Instagram, Tess was seen posing to a backdrop of the sea and the hills.
The post was captioned by the following comments: “I’m gonna be honest, I’ve been really struggling with body image in a way I’ve never experienced.
“It’s been almost debilitating because even though y’all see me out having fun, it sometimes takes so much work & energy just to be able to leave the house.”
One of the factors that has contributed to this has been Tess’ recent diagnosis with anorexia. In 2021, she admitted that she was undergoing rehab in order to finally get a handle on this.
Things had not been made any easier, as her career was disrupted in and amongst being a mother of two. And this expectation of looking a particular way had become obsessive to the point where Tess’ mind was preoccupied with the image that she must convery.
She added: “I’m the kind of gal that always wants my photo taken, until lately… & these are some of the first photos I’ve taken in a while were I saw myself in them & was kind. (I’m working on it.)”
Hopefully, Tess is able to overcome her demons and move forward in her life. And the fans will be there to support her every step of the way to make sure she is fine. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
