Former professional race car driver Danica Patrick has announced that she had her breast implants removed after suffering from a series of symptoms that she believed were caused by the silicone implants.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Danica went into detail about why she chose to get breast implants and what led her to undergo the explant procedure. She also posted before and after photos of her face to show how much her physical appearance has changed immediately after getting her implants taken out.
Danica Patrick Gets Her Breast Implants Removed Following Health Concerns
“I wasn’t sure I was ready to share this…. but then I remembered that true vulnerability is sharing something you’re not really ready to. So here it is,” she began.
“I got breast implants [in] November of 2014. I got them because I want to have it all. I was really fit, but I didn’t have boobs. So I got them. Everything went well, and I was happy with them. Fast forward about 3 years to early 2018, and I noticed that my hair was not as healthy and was breaking off. I also gained a few pounds and had no luck losing it” she explained.
Danica said that by late 2020 “the wheels came off” and she began experiencing a number of unexplainable health problems including cycle irregularity, weight gain, hair loss and more.
Determined to understand the root of her problems, Danica “went down a rabbit hole” and “did every test that could be done” before realizing that she was also suffering from things like hypothyroidism, heavy metal toxicity, adrenal fatigue, and temperature sensitivity.
“I had them removed on Wednesday. Within hours after surgery this is what I noticed – my face had more color and less dark circles, my face started producing oil again, I could take a 30% deeper breath into my chest already, and I had so much energy when I woke up,” she revealed.
Danica went on to say that she believes a condition called ‘breast implant illness’ was the culprit for her deteriorating health. “The condition that is not universally recognized is called breast implant illness. Leave it up to the good folks at these drug companies who are selling them to say they are safe. Look it up if you are struggling or know someone that is. The common denominator is you have conditions that can’t be resolved,” she said.
Danica concluded by saying that she wanted to share her story to give other women hope who may be experiencing similar issues. “If this post helps just one get to the root of their issues, it did its job,” she said.
